Dancehall & Reggae Music continue to influence many worldwide whether through the various sounds, lyrics, or even some of the people who create from the genres. Today’s entry is no different as famed Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder dabbled in a bit of the sounds in his latest compilation album, “Jamla Is The Squad 2“! While the album features a host of tracks for every flavour, it’s the opening track that will surprise and awe many. On “Welcome To JamRoc“, the opening vocals come courtesy of Dancehall Artist Quick Cook, while the following production samples Damian “Junior Gong” Marley’s “Welcome To JamRock“, and Ini Kamoze’s “World A Music“. With 9th tackling the production, Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, Reuben Vincent, and Ian Kelly provide the lyrics that go well with the dope sounds. This isn’t the first time 9th sampled Jamaican music as he borrowed sounds from The Mighty Diamonds on the tracks “L.A.” and “Bad Man” by MURS, and Third World on the track “Let It Go” by Little Brother. .@MrJKinggz Continues The Grind As He Releases The “30 Days EP”

Born in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines and based in Brooklyn, New York, Recording Artist J Kinggz has been on the grind and making his voice be heard. We’ve featured him some time ago with the single, “Birthday” featuring HighOnFi, but he has since followed up with the Jewelry store anthem, “Patek” with a promise that a project was on the way. That promise was kept as he released the “30 Days EP (The Life Changing Project)“. Featuring four tracks, this came together during a very serious time in his life. With freedom on the line, the best thing he could do during that time was pray and create (and he spoke it in the paperwork for this EP). With Producers such as RazsyBeats, Khalijah, and JSebastian providing the sounds for the lyrics and features from J.R.E. and DTG, J Kinggz gives listeners a bit of what’s to come as he’s currently working on more music including a follow up project. Ricki is a very unique Artist, and that’s the reason why she was added to our list of Female Artists to watch this year. If she isn’t around a few canvases, or perfecting her “drip“, she’s penning some crazy lyrics to fit the sounds that approach her. Recently, as a part of her roll out, she delivered a double dose of music videos namely “Bless You” and “Pesos“.

On “Bless You“, we find Ricki presenting herself as a walking canvas as she dons various outfits, and gets very colourful throughout. With Troy Baker’s production handling her lyrics, you will very blessed upon consuming this presentation.

On “Pesos“, Ricki delves into some Trap Dancehall vibes as she switches up the flows (and languages) over some hard hitting Troy Baker sounds. The video, which was directed by Dennis Brown Media House, finds Ricki counting up the moula and delivering some “bad gyal” vibes, while we get a bit of dancing thanks to Tara Tehrebel and Tashine Hinds of Versatile Ones. Give Ricki the lane, and she’ll be sure to take advantage of it.

Here she gives listeners a lil bit of Hip Hop and R&B as she speaks on being a “Ride or die Chick“, not bringing drama, and being a one of a kind girl for someone who will treat her right. She lets us in on some of her experiences in a relationship, and lets that person know that if he doesn’t act right, she’ll move on. If she’s the one you need, you have to let her know. Jones’ sampled based production on this track fits the lyrics well and definitely adds to the replay value. Imagine a video for this track. Bless up Jamaica and New York City. Today we’re witnessing a historic moment thanks to Chris Matic, a Jamaican born Rapper who resides in Brooklyn, New York! Having been on the grind for some time, his day finally arrived once he signed with IB Music, a division of Invisible Bully which was started by Damion “D-Roc” Butler and Diddy. Since his signing, Chris Matic has been showing up at various outlets dropping bar after bar, and impressing many. Today is no different however as he checks in with the legendary DJ Funk Flex at Hot 97, and he delivered! Over Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle” and Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” Instrumentals, he lets us know he’s not in the 360 deal life, rolling with D-Roc and Diddy, and showcasing why he’s one of the nicest out there.
