Today’s Oldies Sunday was one that should’ve been posted a long time ago, but a recent event inspired its publishing. Remember when Dancehall Artist Shenseea released the visual for her “ShenYeng Anthem“? While many enjoyed the single, there were mixed reviews for the music video because of its intro. With today’s entry, I feel there would be some “outrage” from some folks if this was released today (some folks argue about every little thing online). Today’s entry comes from Chalice (though they were featured before, this song features mostly one of their Vocalists) with their single, “Sayonara“. Written by the legendary Lloyd Lovindeer, this was performed by one of the band’s Vocalists, Wayne Armond. Released through CTS Records in 1986, and Bold Reprive Records in 1987, this track features some Oriental influenced production with Wayne singing about his experiences with a Japanese woman in Jamaica. “Sayonara” (which means “Goodbye” in Japanese) was featured on the band’s “Crossfire” album and was popular in the 80’s and early 90’s. The video for the single was shot in Portland and featured the Boston Jerk Centre. Get familiar with something old by checking out the track below, and share with a friend. Earlier this year, US Pop Artist Christina Aguilera announced her 8th studio album, “Liberation“. With a couple singles out, fans were looking forward to what the songbird had in store as she found herself staying busy with other activities in recent years. On the album, she found herself collaborating with Reggae Artist Keida, and Dancehall Artist Shenseea on the track, “Right Moves“! Produced by Che Pope, Bryan “Composer” Nelson, and Marcos “Kosine” Palacios, the 3 ladies have their eyes on the men who know how to woo and seduce them with all the right moves. From having chills running up their spines, to having their bodies explored like iPhone apps, the men have to come correct when it’s time to get down. A great combination of Reggae, Dancehall, and Pop on this one, and a unique addition to Aguilera’s project. How did Makeida, Christina, and Chinsea do? “Liberation” is available on all streaming platforms, but you can check out the track below. Show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

2018 Predictions!
The Champagne is all done, the party favors are boxed up, and many are still hungover, but welcome to 2018! While we look forward to another year filled with new developments, we have a few predictions we want to put out there. We aren’t Nostradamus, but let’s see if the stars are aligned in Entertainment.

1. Chronixx wins the “Best Reggae Album” Grammy
With the 60th Grammy Awards coming up later this month, many Artists and viewers will be tuned in to see if their favourite will be carrying home a shiny prize. In Reggae music, we predict that the “Dread & Terrible” Artist, Chronixx, will carry home the award for “Best Reggae Album” for his project “Chronology”. This win will see him beating out fellow nominees like Damian Marley, Morgan’s Heritage, J Boog, and Common Kings! This would be a huge look for the Artist, and give the album even more attention. Maybe a Grammy tour as well? Let’s see.

2. Vybz Kartel will be successful in his Appeal hearing.
Since 2011, we’ve heard the phrase “Free Kartel!”, and it will not stop anytime soon. Vybz Kartel has more than a cult following, and it doesn’t help when he can still release songs while incarcerated. It was reported over the past couple years that his Defense team will file an appeal in the conviction of Kartel and 3 of his associates who are all serving life sentences. Despite numerous delays, it was reported that his hearing will be held in July 2018. If he wins, things might be shaken up a bit. Free Ninja Man too.
It Was Time To “Get Gingered” At @PepsiJamaica’s “A Flavour Gold Mine Pool Party”!
During the Reggae Sumfest festivities, Pepsi Jamaica announced the newest flavour to their Soft Drink lineup. With “Ginger Pepsi“, drinkers are in for a lil extra “Spice” for their Summer. To further celebrate this, “A Flavour Gold Mine Pool Party” was held at the recently opened Hard Rock Cafe in Montego Bay. Featuring lots of Gold, fun and Pepsi Ginger, attendees were in for a treat and got to party with the likes of Media Personality Nikki Z, and Dancehall Artist and Pepsi Ambassador, Shenseea. Below are some of the photos from the event.
