It’s been a while since we’ve heard any music from Jamaican group, Acmatic. No worries though, as they’ve recently announced that they’ll be back. Until then, Acmatic Frontman King Lopo keeps the name alive with a track titled, “Straight To It“! Sharing production with Producer/Recording Artist Sawandi, we get a blend of Funk, Electronic Music, Dancehall, Hip Hop, and all around good vibes as Lopo keeps the rhymes flowing like the White Rum he so loves. Whether you’re starting your morning off, or searching for a party to crash in the night, “Straight To It” will keep you pumped up and ready for anything! Good to see Lopo back in the booth. New Acmatic on the way!

Kingston based DZL Records is at work producing great music to be delivered to every listening ear worldwide. Having enjoyed success with releases from 2018 and the first half of 2019, the Dale Virgo owned label looks to get into higher gear with these new releases.

CH4SE

Starting off the round of releases is Singer/Songwriter Ch4se with his Dancehall/R&B single, “Closer“! The track finds him getting the attention and affection of his love interest as he wishes to get closet to her, and express his desire for her in every way.

D.A. JAY

Next on the agenda is Gospel Recording Artist/Songwriter D.A. Jay with “Start A Fire“! Featuring Dancehall Artist Agent Sasco, we get a song filled with motivation and a showcase of two Artists who aren’t afraid to speak their minds on a track and deliver that “Message music“.

GHANA

Closing off this round of releases is Recording Artist Ghana with her highly anticipated project, the “Gypsy Dread EP“! Featuring 6 tracks, Ghana tackles political and personal themes and showcases some versatility throughout.

Over the past weekend, many people got to witness “The Energy God” Elephant Man representing for Dancehall music and bringing a massive charge to Reggae Sumfest 2019. With hits aplenty, and the ability to move the crowd, Ele left Montego Bay with one of the more memorable nights of the 2 night festival. Today, we pay tribute to Elephant Man. Inspired by our 2017 Article, we present to you, “Elephant Man – King Of The Refix” Playlist!

With nearly 6 hours worth of singles along with the original tracks covered/sampled, Elephant Man knew how to take the lemons given to him, and make a Lemonade of hits! With over 20 years in Dancehall, Ele won’t find his energy fizzling out anytime soon. All hail the “Energy God“!

Recently, UK Recording Artist Mahalia released her Burna Boy featured single, “Simmer“. Today, we show respect to the sample. Going into Playlist Mode yet again, we look back at the “Playground Riddim” in our #13thStreetThrowback Playlist Series! The Riddim was released in 1997 and produced by Jeremy Harding for his 2 Hard Label. It birthed the classics “Nike Air” by Mr. Vegas, “Pet & Pamper” by Mad Cobra, “Infiltrate” by Sean Paul, and the mega hit, “Who Am I” a.k.a. “Sim Simma“ by Beenie Man! The Riddim was also sampled by UK Artists Krept & Konan, US Rapper Bizzy Bone, and UK DJ/Producer Spooky Bizzle.
