As the Coronation of Ms. Universe 2015 fast approaches, countries all over the globe are gleaming with excitement and showing support for their favorite contestant. With no doubt, the contestants are flamboyantly showcasing their walks, elegant poses and beautiful smiles in an effort to make an impression on both the judges and the public at large.
Here in Jamaica, the home crowd is cheering for our new dearly beloved Kaci Fennell. Kaci is from the parish of Kingston and St. Andrew. She is a 24 year old, long-legged beauty who radiates sunshine from her motherland. It has been seen that she is creating a buzz in the competition already, as photos from the Ms. Universe Fan Poll Page of her are shared and liked daily. Jamaican supporters locally and across the diaspora surely announce their strong faith in her, as they encourage our fellow Jamaicans to support our reigning beauty queen.
She posts pictures daily on her social media accounts and fans just can’t help but fall in love with the humble being that she is. Various comments have been made about the reason Jamaicans are so pleased with her, many of which states that there is something unique about Kaci.
Her official Miss Universe interview has her boasting about Jamaica’s warmhearted people, our music, our cuisine and the “vibes and ting”. The Jamaican people have no doubt that Kaci will be a top contender in the competition.
As the Coronation approaches speedily, we set our clocks, phones, tablets on alarm to celebrate our remarkable country and the beauty that represents us as a people.

Pay Attention - January 31 (Back)

Kingston, Jamaica’s premier Hip Hop party and artiste showcase series, Pay Attention, returns for the New Year on Saturday, January 31 at C&C South Beach, 2 Brompton Road. The event will feature music by resident DJ, Inztinkz, and Deadline Sound; as well as performances by Hip Hop artistes, Five Steez and Gully Ca$h, Dancehall/Reggae artiste, Rseenal, and singer, Jane MacGizmo.

Five Steez is expected to deliver songs from his 2012 album ‘War for Peace’ and his ‘These Kingston Times’ EP, released last October. Additionally, Gully Ca$h, who also released his free mixtape, ‘Trillinayaad’, in October, is slated to perform his newest music.

Rseenal, who is known in underground Dancehall and live Reggae circles, will be performing a special Hip Hop-flavoured set, while Jane MacGizmo will treat listeners to her eclectic dubtronica sound as heard in her singles, ‘Babylon’ and ‘Black Skin’.

“Anyone who has attended Pay Attention before knows that we always bring the best underground talent that Jamaica has to offer and there is an energy that is unparalleled at our event,” says host and organiser, TSD. “As usual, we have that real Hip Hop, which is about dope beats and rhymes, and we mix it up with other genres, which are all a part of the same family, from acts who have that Hip Hop flair.”

Admission to Pay Attention is $1,000 and ladies are two-for-one until showtime at 10:30PM. Gates open at 9PM. PRESS RELEASE: @GullyBop1000 @Imari_NGW Respond To Claims By Record Label

Internet sensation come Dancehall’s man of the moment, Gully Bop has released a fresh new single in response to recent claims from a popular record label. The song is titled,Drop Mi and features rapper Imari. The catchy tune sums up Gully Bop’s side of the story. “How dem fe drop mi an’ a nuh dem pick me up, Grudge dem grudge me tru me money get nuff,” Gully Bop rhymes on the brand new track.

Bermudan label, CBL Records produced the track with local music makers, Blak Spade. Rapper, Imari adds an international flavor as she supports Gully bop’s arguments. She raps that his sudden rise to fame has not been experienced by many and can inevitably lead to jealousy. Imari was recently n Jamaica for an appearance at magnum Sting. The connection with Gully Bop was made creating, Drop Mi.

PRESS RELEASE: @ReggaeSting Pulls Largest Crowd In 5 Years

The 31st staging of Magnum Sting pulled thousands of patrons to Jamworld in Portmore. The highly anticipated “two shows in one night” event saw stellar performances from numerous leading reggae acts and scorching hot Dancehall stars. Among the top contenders for the most phenomenal presentation of the night were the fire man Capleton, talented Reggae singer Tarrus Riley and new sensation Gully Bop.

The most prominent dancehall event in the world, credited over the years with breaking new stars on the scene, pulled a massive audience eagerly anticipating the man of the moment Gully Bop. He delivered an exciting climax to the festival close to 7 AM in the morning. His vocal delivery, lyrical prowess and interaction with the audience put Jamworld in a frenzy. Not only was he a crowd favorite at the venue but the most significant attraction for online viewers. The hashtag GullyBop trended on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for hours on December 27th.

Capleton did not disappoint with a professional stage set, he ruled as master at Magnum Sting. His fire blazing consumed on-lookers. The Cyaan Cool king slewed with hits from his discography such as: Lotion Man, Everybody, hands Off, That Day Will Come, Who Dem and Raggy Road. Flags and Hands waved throughout his production as well as fire torches in approval of a job well done.

Impressive performances hit the stage from acts such as Alliance bred Kalado, Demarco, Kabaka Pyramid, Exco Levi, Ikaya, Ataru and Sashae and among many others. The production of Magnum Sting 2014 was remarkable: lights, sound and stage were first world.

Raptor energy drink has come onboard as a new sponsor for next week’s Magnum Sting. A press conference was held recently at the offices of Supreme Promotions to announce the partnership. The highly anticipated lyrical competition between Ryno and Kiprich is now officially titled, “The Raptor Rematch”.

Senior Marketing coordinator of Jamaica Beverages, Allawney McIntyre explained the partnership, “It was not a tough decision to partner with Magnum Sting 2014. Through our partnership we are given the opportunity to reach out to 50,000 people. It is the number one dancehall show in the country. It demands from its patron’s endurance and attentiveness for the over 12 hours of exciting entertainment the event provides. What better way to keep our guests refueled and reenergized than with Raptor Energy drink.”

Recording artiste, Kiprich was also present at the launch. “This year is a different year. One thing I have to tell the opponent. What me see him come out with last year, that can’t work again this year…When yuh nuh expect something and it happen off-guard, anything can happen,” Kiprich explained to the media.

Kiprich is a multi-wining clash champion over the years and lost his title last year to Blak Ryno, an unexpected challenger he claims. Ryno was unable to attend the conference, as he was overseas. On Boxing day, December 26th a new clash champion will be announced at Jamworld in Portmore. Raptor Energy Drink joins Magnum Tonic Wine, Bill Express, The Star, Irie FM, Fruit Jazz Punches, ZIP103FM, Jolly’s His ‘N’ Her’s and Sunnyside Villas among other sponsors of this years staging of the annual event.

Reggae recording artist Prodi was recently featured in the Italian Issue of The Rolling Stone Magazine. In the feature, ‘Homeward Found’, Rolling Stone gives their views on the parish of Portland. They highlighted the exciting features of Portland and the Geejam Collection.

Founded by Jon Baker alongside Steve Beaver, The Geejam Collection consists of the Geejam Recording Studio. In his quest to ‘reinvent the spirit of the past’ through music, Baker has included Prodi along with his team ‘Yawd Movement’ in the Geejam group of recording artists. Baker’s wife, now recording artist, Nordia ‘Coco’ Witter also works with Prodi. She was quoted by Rolling Stone saying, “there’s so much incredible talent we’re bringing to the table, and together, we’re set to take the music to a higher level”.

 In the feature Prodi makes mention of the release of his upcoming album, ‘Kingston City’. He describes his sound as that of the likes of ‘John the Baptist who was the voice of the people”. Prodi shared “Jamaican music is no longer underground.  It’s now the world’s music, its spreading like fire.”
