When was the last time you heard a Gully Bop tune? He was on top of the Dancehall scene for a while, but somewhat faded out. With some saying he’s working on his comeback, today’s new entry may just be a start. Recently his “Wuk Affa Mi/Body Specialist” single was sampled by Ghanaian DJ/Producer Juls for the Nigerian Dancehall Artist Burna Boy assisted, “Gwarn“! A song for the ladies, Juls and Burna want them to know that they have the “good good loving” that they need! With Bop’s catchy lyrics that turned him into a viral sensation added, the single also gives the men a warning that if you don’t treat her right, another man will. Producer Kris Karz has been pretty busy these past few months. From blessing the Internet with his “Kngly Live!” series, to producing tracks for the likes of Leno Banton, Dylan Golden, and K. Charlz, he decided it was time to let people in on some of his secret sounds. Though unofficially announced, he will be releasing a series of EPs with the first being today’s entry, “Pastel“! Featuring a lot of samples (If your ears are good, you might recognize a few hits), Kris really wants you to enjoy the sounds in every way. We featured Jamaican Producer Chnceearlier this year along with some other dope Producers, and today we’re dropping something new from him! Titled “Deep In There“, he not only plays his role as Producer, but dons the hats of Songwriter and Recording Artist. Featured on the “Therapeutic Riddim“, a part of a Compilation by Kreatif Substans (more on that later down), Chnce goes into “Mr. Loverman” mode for the ladies! Putting a chosen lady in the starring role for a good time, Chnce details what they’ll do from the foreplay right down to climax. According to the Producer, while the track is explicit, the intention of the song was to be soft and mellow, with a few dashes of aggressive and clever lyrics. From here, Chnce flexes his pen to ensure that the ladies’ imagination is on fire when giving the track an earful. This is Chnce’s second appearance as a Recording Artist, but don’t expect him to put it at the forefront anytime soon. There are Producers who can craft Riddims on the fly, there are Producers who can provide the Soundtrack to your thoughts and lyrics, and there are those who can tell a story. UK based Signature is an upcoming Producer who has a story to tell, and he does so on his debut Beat Tape! Titled “The Journey“, this 10 track project is a result of taking a hiatus from the online world to further develop his skills. Featuring various clips where he’s being Interviewed, he speaks on his aspirations, his inspirations, and the process behind the making of his Tape. The project also features collaborations with Producers SOS Dynamikz, Universal ZincFence, SkyRas, and Kvdence who all bring together their sounds to create that “Audio Dope“! Romell and Xandire however, contribute to the journey with Interludes and providing encouragement. If you’re an Artist looking for a new sound, give Signature a call (Whatsapp or Facetime perhaps?). Whether playing guitar as a part of “Di Vibe” or crafting beats, Kone (Koh Neh) should not be taken lightly. Having produced newcomer Yanah’s single, “The Cycle” and her “Believe In You” Freestyle, delivered the right Riddim with fellow Producer BoomDraw for Blvk H3ro & Leno Banton’s “Sky Dive”, expect to hear more of this creative this year!
He doesn’t call himself a “Riddim God” for nothing. You’ve enjoyed many of his productions that have been complimented with the vocals of Jamar McNaughton, and he has an arsenal ready to go toe to toe with the best of Producers. Having recently released the “Dub Policy EP”, he’s busy preparing his compilation project titled “Top Works Vol. 1” which will feature his ZincFence Records members Ulo, Jane Macgizmo, and Inezi.
