Mixtape Movements: @LornavBennett – This Is Lorna (Mixed By @IamYaadcore)

In celebration of Reggae singer (and Protoje’s mom) Lorna Bennett’s birthday, she released the “mixtape” version of her debut album. Titled “This Is Lorna” and mixed by Rory Yaadcore, this album included her single “Breakfast In Bed” which made her the first female artist to top the Jamaica singles chart for five consecutive weeks. For many who are familiar with her work can reminisce on her hits and new listeners can be educated (and see who Protoje got his talent from). Wonderful listen from a great artist. NEW MUSIC: @TifaMusic – Lyrically Educated

Today’s new music comes from the Dancehall diva Tifa. Titled “Lyrically Educated” and produced by ZJ Chrome on the “Decibels” Riddim, we hear Tifa dropping enough bombs to take out a whole village and a flow that keeps her competition very frustrated. Very dope single from the diva, never been one to stick to one subject, she ensures she dominated this ZJ Chrome production. What do you think of the single? NEW MUSIC: @Jah9 x @Protoje – Legitimate

Today’s new music comes from Jah 9 and Protoje. Titled “Legitimate” and produced by Rory Stone Love, we hear the two Reggae artists dropping conscious lyrics about living life righteously, love, and being positive over a soothing production. This is track 11 off Jah 9’s “New Name” album which has been receiving rave reviews all around. Great song to meditate to. “New Name” is still on iTunes so get it today. NEW VIDEO: @AlaineSinga x @RealiOctane – Lighters Up

Today’s new video comes from Reggae artists I Octane and Alaine. Titled “Lighters Up” and directed by Scorpio 21, we see the two artists side by side singing and promoting positivity. A decent effoert but while the message is a great one I personally would’ve loved to have seen more from this. My idea for this would’ve had shots on top of a tall building overlooking the city, and maybe a community with children. Shine your lighters high! What you think? NEW MUSIC: @RaineSeville – Willow Tree

Today’s new music comes from singer Raine Seville. Titled “Willow Tree” and produced by Locke City Music Group, this is a cover version of the late Alton Ellis’ 1967 single of the same name with a little twist. This song is about finding new love and sparing the “Willow Tree” from crying  for Raine’s past experiences. As the lyrics say once a tear has fallen, the willow tree weeps eternally but Raine  made it clear that she won’t cry over past associates and shall move on with her life. A good effort from Raine, fresh off her controversial single with Konshens, this single hears her saluting a legend and her being able to move on from situations. What you think of the song? Like “Fine China” by Chris Brown or “Crickets” by Drop City Yacht Club? Then check out DJ Ariez’ remix to these two hits. Featuring popular songs from Tommy Lee (Mechanic), Konshens (Gal A Bubble), Aidonia (Fi Di Jockey), Vybz Kartel (Freaky Gal Pt. 2), and Mavado (Come Round), this sounds like a real fun remix made special for the ladies out there. While the problem I had was the instrumental’s volume overriding some parts of the song, those are familiar with the songs shouldn’t have much of a problem.
