After burning up the streets with his single and gained popularity through Vine, Rapper Bobby Shmurda recruited Junior Reid, Mavado, Jah X, and Popcaan for “Hot Nigga Remix“. Produced by Jahlil Beats, we hear a Dancehall remix with each artist dropping some badman lyrics to the single while Bobby kept his original lines. Will this be bigger than the original? NEW MUSIC: @LucasDiPasquale – Make My Rounds

Today’s new music comes from Canadian singer Lucas DiPasquale. You may remember him from gaining quite a following for covering a few of Deejay Popcaan’s singles. Here he steps out with “Make My Rounds“. Produced by Mini of E5 Records on the “Beach Life Riddim“, Lucas speaks on leaving Canada to visit Jamaica and the things he’s dealing with back home, mainly being apart from his lady. He also tells his lady that all the moves he’s making will pay off in the end, and he lets listeners know that his cover video that made him popular is getting old and he needs to bring new things to the table. Not a bad effort here from the singer, I’d like to hear this live very soon. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW MUSIC: @IAmVindon – The LVL

Dropping a few lines today is Blu Rok Rapper, Vindon. Titled “The LVL“, Vindon tests his bars over Meek Mill’s “Levels“. NEW MUSIC: @KAnthony7 – God Is Good

Today’s music is aimed not only to entertain, but to inspire. Today K. Anthony (Kevin Fowler) drops “God Is Good”. Produced by Dwain “Wiya” Campbell of Barbwiya Productions, K. Anthony drops the message that no matter what’s going on in your life, God is good. He encourages listeners that despite the line being a cliche, they can use it add strength to their moments of weakness and despair. Great song and with the uptempo production, it should be a single that gets many plays over time. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
OLDIES SUNDAY: @GraceJones – Pull Up To The Bumper (1981)
Today’s Oldies Sunday entry comes from Model/Singer/Actress, Grace Jones. Titled “Pull Up To The Bumper” and produced by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin for Island Records in 1981, Grace’s lyrics were depicted to have sexual connotations and of course sparked some controversy at that time. With lyrics like “Pull up to my bumper baby, with your long black limousine..“, various media outlets refused to play it. It was revealed years later that the lyrics were not meant to have a sexual theme.
“Pull Up To The Bumper” was the third single off her fifth album, Nightclubbing, which was released in 1981. With her “New Wave” style of music that incorporated a fusion of uptempo Funk and R&B, the single became a hit. The song charted high in many countries and peaked at #2 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart. With its success, “Pull Up” was remixed many times and was covered by Dancehall artist Patra (Lady Patra) in 1995. Over the years it has been covered by other acts and even sampled on Hip Hop singles by Spice 1, Coolio and more. With her talents as a Model, Actress and Singer, Grace Jones went on to be a household name and a huge influence to many in the entertainment world boasting many more hits along the way.
Thank You Grace Jones for this timeless gem.
