Thank you for representing Jamaica. Thank you for being a Caribbean representative. You made moves that some would’ve said were unattainable. You’ve embraced your own beauty, and the world loved you. You stand tall with many Beauty Queens before you that have donned the “Jamaica” sash, and you’ve brought our culture to another big platform. You have carried yourself well.
As you continue your journey, remember you’re doing this for the little girl who was teased because her hair was “nappy”, the young woman who was refused opportunities because she was “too dark”, for those who were told “Jamaicans can’t do anything good”, let them see you shine on the world stage and show them that they can do anything that their heart wishes.
Always remember to be true to who you are. Don’t ever be afraid of showing the world that you don’t have to be from a big city, having the big name, be of a lighter complexion, having the straightest of hair to achieve greatness. We are proud to have had Queens with their unique flair over the years, so now you show people that the afro is YOUR Crown!
