Today’s new video comes from Kabaka Pyramid. Titled “Liberal Opposer” and directed by Jason Lannaman for Arawak Studios, Kabaka drops conscious lyrics about fighting for what is right, tracing his lineage to Ethiopia, and living right in every way. This is one of Kabaka’s most popular singles so of course a video had to be shot for it. Off his “Lead The Way” EP, check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

Another day, another new Vybz Kartel single pops up, and we’re not mad at that! Titled “Downtown Kingston“, Kartel gives us the day to day happenings and what you can get in Downtown, Kingston. From beauty products to food to clothing, Downtown has it all. I love this single as it sounds like it could be Downtown’s theme song. You can never deny that Vybz Kartel is a lyricist and made a song for anything. If only Kartel didn’t get caught up in crime. Today on Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club”, Dancehall artist Beenie Man made a guest appearance. Here he shared his thoughts on the T.I./Floyd Mayweather fight and cheating, Vybz Kartel’s current situation, Kingston, overseas acts recording in Jamaica, working with female artists, staying current after all these years, being a “Gallis“, his new EP “The Greatest Gallis“, avoiding beefs and his current tour. It’s still good to see Beenie doing his thing after so many years and he gets my respect for that. Beenie sure loves to “twang” (ha!). Today’s new music comes from Pop artists Will.I.Am and Cody Wise with a little twist. Titled “Birthday” and produced by Will.I.Am and Damien LeRoy, this features samples from Jamaica’s own Aidonia (Fi Di Jockey) and Bounty Killa. The song is basically a feel good song that promotes living life to the fullest all the time and celebrating it like it’s your birthday. Sounds like a hit to me here and it’s very interesting to hear Dancehall being sampled in this. Check out the song below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
After being away from a Jamaican studio in years, Shabba Ranks got back to his roots and released a new single. Titled “Big Time” and produced by JukeBoxx Productions on the “Greatest Creation Riddim“, the veteran Deejay shows us that he has what it takes to still rock the microphone. He also tells us that he’s needed in Dancehall Music and will always “give it to dem” when he’s summoned. Many were delighted to hear Shabba pick up the microphone after hearing him on Rapper A$AP Ferg’s “Shabba (Remix)” so will this new single mean there’ll be more in store?
