It’s been over two years since the release of Recording Artist Protoje’s “Ancient Future“, and it’s still a banger! What’s your favourite song off of it? Still wish it won a Grammy. If you’re a viewer of the hit FOX TV series Lethal Weapon, then you might’ve heard a familiar song from the Artist in their latest episode. Kicking off the first 30 seconds was the first single off the 2015 Album, “Answer To Your Name“! Produced by Winta James and Lewis Planter, Protoje went into storytelling mode on this one and had influences of Ska throughout the Production.
Lethal Weapon is a TV series based on the popular “Buddy Cop” Comedy Movie franchise which stars Comedian Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford. The Movie starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. What a Bam Bam! With one of the most sampled Dancehall singles to date, Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” continues to make more noise all over the world! Adding to the list of Artists who have blessed the sample is US Recording Artist, Tamar Braxton! With her new Album, “Blue Bird Of Happiness“, she recently announced that it will be her final Album as she’ll be focusing on her family. “Bam Bam” received the sample treatment on the track, “Run Run” which was produced by Troy Taylor and Bridgetown, and appears as track 3 on the Album. “Bam Bam” was released in 1982, produced by Winston Riley, and has been sampled/featured on tracks by the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Guerilla Black, Lauryn Hill, Kat DeLuna. The single was even featured in a Reebok Commercial.
Indiana based Reggae/Dancehall Recording Artist D-Feezy has recently signed a deal with US based Distribution Label, VPAL Music. The deal was signed on September 18, and lasts for 3 years. The announcement comes fresh off the heels of the release of his “Money Me A Pree” Music Video, and his performance at the Indiana Reggae Jam Music Festival this past Summer. “It’s a great feeling to get this deal with VP/VPAL. This way I can get more of my music out there in the world, and continue to wave the Jamaican flag in Indianapolis as the culture is very much alive there“, shared an enthusiastic D-Feezy.
The Artist has also shared that fans can expect the official release of his latest single, “Gas Station” with Afrobeat/AfroPop Recording Artist, May D on October 13 through VP/VPAL, but can be heard earlier via Apple Music, Spotify, and all other major Streaming outlets. The single was produced by BigBeats Music, while the Music Video for the single was recently released and shot by HD Genesis. “The single is another example of two Artists from different Nations and cultures having a mutual love for the Music, and making things happen! May D is from Nigeria and he has been doing his thing over there, so I felt we could join forces and drop something for the ladies! The Music Video has been doing well since its release, and we’re grateful for that” D-Feezy shared. D-Feezy is also working on his debut Album which should see a December 2017 release and its announcement very soon.
D-Feezy (born Steven Howard Muttler), hails from West Kingston, and has been active as a Recording Artist since migrating to the United States in the early 2000s. Releasing various Mixtapes over the years, he has developed a following in Indiana, and has shared the stage with the likes of Elephant Man, Future Fambo, Serani, Etana, and Sizzla.
Fans have been adjusting to a smoother side of QQ with the recent release of “I Like It“. The single, produced by College Boiz Productions and QQ Music, is different from QQ’s more upbeat singles such as “One Drop“, “Jack Hammer” and “Kushi Wine” to name a few.
The Artist who has been absent from the Jamaican Dancehall scene for a while, has been performing on several major stages in the United States and Europe. “I want to show a different side to my music but whether i’m singing or deejaying, I am all about pleasing my female fans” shared QQ. The single is featured on the “Precious Seeds Riddim”, and has been receiving a favourable response from fans worldwide. The “One Drop” star is set to perform in Guyana in October, and Barcelona, Spain in November.
QQ has several new projects in the works, and is back in Jamaica to shoot music videos related to them. While it has been “Too Late” for some this past Summer, Recording Artist Jane Macgizmo is right on time with the way her career is going. Recently she, along with Zinc Fence Records Producer Teflon, were called up to lend their musical hands in the Soundtrack to the upcoming Amazon Prime TV series, “SYN“. Jane’s latest single, “Too Late” will be featured, along with her contribution to the Series’ Theme Song. Original Production by Teflon will also make an appearance throughout the season. She took to Social Media site Instagram to deliver the great news to much excitement, and it goes to show that our music continues to make an impact Worldwide.
“SYN” is a psychological Thriller written and produced by Award winning Jamaican Director/Producer/Writer Toni Morgan Haye (related to the this Blog’s Founder? Maybe lol) that focuses on the main character named Jess (played by Emily Sweet). Jess has amnesia and remembers nothing about who she is or where she came from. The series sees Jess on a journey to reclaim her lost memories, and how her very existence could change the course of reality. The series premieres on October 6 on Amazon Prime TV. Emporio Armani, a subsidiary of Italian Fashion House Giorgio Armani, recently kicked off a Campaign to promote their “Together Stronger” duo of Fragrances. In both print and video formats, the scents “Because It’s You” for Women and “Stronger With You” for Men were presented. In their series of videos (both for TV and Youtube) which features Actress Matilda Lutz and Actor James Jagger, the soundtrack provided was EDM trio Major Lazer, Recording Artist Ellie Goulding, and Reggae Artist Tarrus Riley’s “Powerful“!
“Powerful” was released in 2015, and featured on Major Lazer’s “Peace Is The Mission” Album. The single has enjoyed Top 10 placements in Australia, Poland, The US and UK with Platinum and Gold certifications in New Zealand, Italy, and Australia. “Powerful” was also featured in a Hulu TV Commercial in January, and remixed by various Producers.
