The one who was responsible for “Wife Me Up” a few years ago, has decided to look out for the Maties this time around with “Side Chick Upgrade“. Produced by Chimney Records on the Toll Road Riddim, Tifa plays the role of a Side chick who has ambitions of stepping up to the plate as “Wife” and does her part in ensuring that she is moved up very soon. Out from the dark into the light is the Matie’s mission, but for now she’ll play her role. Recently he teamed up with Singer Trust to cover Producer/Musician/Singer Thundercat’s 2015 single, “Them Changes“. With Kris handling the Piano duties, Trust delivers the lyrics in a beautiful Acoustic set that I guarantee will bring a brighter mood with every listen. While the Funk influenced original is a dope listen, this Acoustic cover with a little Rap is just fitting on this Sunday afternoon. Over the weekend, the “Unruly Boss” Popcaan made a guest appearance on Drake’s “OVO Sound Radio“. The nearly 3 hour long Programme also featured two sets from host Oliver El-Khatib as he mixed new music from popular and emerging Artists in Hip Hop. Popcaan’s Dancehall set however featured some of his old and new singles including “Ova Dweet“, “Unruly Prayer“, “World Cup“, “Fall In Love“, “Wicked Man Ting“, his collaborations including Aluna George’s “I’m In Control“, “Bad A Road” featuring Kiprich and Jah Son, the remix to Drake’s “Controlla“, Dosa Medicine’s “Badman“, and of course the now infamous “One Dance” Dubplate used at the recently held Red Bull Culture Clash. Listeners who were not fully familiar with Popcaan were treated to a crash course of sorts while fans raved as they heard their favourite Artist’s songs on the very popular show.
