Dancehall & Reggae Music continue to influence many worldwide whether through the various sounds, lyrics, or even some of the people who create from the genres. Today’s entry is no different as famed Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder dabbled in a bit of the sounds in his latest compilation album, “Jamla Is The Squad 2“! While the album features a host of tracks for every flavour, it’s the opening track that will surprise and awe many. On “Welcome To JamRoc“, the opening vocals come courtesy of Dancehall Artist Quick Cook, while the following production samples Damian “Junior Gong” Marley’s “Welcome To JamRock“, and Ini Kamoze’s “World A Music“. With 9th tackling the production, Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, Reuben Vincent, and Ian Kelly provide the lyrics that go well with the dope sounds. This isn’t the first time 9th sampled Jamaican music as he borrowed sounds from The Mighty Diamonds on the tracks “L.A.” and “Bad Man” by MURS, and Third World on the track “Let It Go” by Little Brother. In case you didn’t know, popular Afrobeat Recording Artist Mr. Eazi released the 2nd volume in his “Life Is Eazi” mixtape series. With a blend of new sounds and familiar names, this project is one to keep on repeat. One of the familiar names that appears on the project is Jamaica’s own Chronixx on the track “She Loves Me“. With a rather upbeat production, the duo speak on the roller coaster loving they each experience with their respective love interests. A song many can relate to as mixed signals can be a detriment to a budding relationship, and then there are those who have ulterior motives. Be careful as to not let another person misuse your love. With a skin bleaching stunt to promote her black positive single, the Deejay and now Reality Show Star topped it off with the release of her latest Mixtape titled, “Captured“. Born in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines and based in Brooklyn, New York, Recording Artist J Kinggz has been on the grind and making his voice be heard. We’ve featured him some time ago with the single, “Birthday” featuring HighOnFi, but he has since followed up with the Jewelry store anthem, “Patek” with a promise that a project was on the way. That promise was kept as he released the “30 Days EP (The Life Changing Project)“. Featuring four tracks, this came together during a very serious time in his life. With freedom on the line, the best thing he could do during that time was pray and create (and he spoke it in the paperwork for this EP). With Producers such as RazsyBeats, Khalijah, and JSebastian providing the sounds for the lyrics and features from J.R.E. and DTG, J Kinggz gives listeners a bit of what’s to come as he’s currently working on more music including a follow up project.
