Florida based Rapper Alvii is getting his name out there in every way. We featured him recently on “Catch Up“, and now he delivers his first Mixtape! Titled “Adventures Of Trueself“, this 7 track project sees him covering topics about his day to day life, as well as showing that he can handle any of the self-produced beats that he takes on. Featuring Jamaican Rapper Slim I.D. as the only guest, the project shows us that Alvii can hold his own. He also pays homage to Ocala, Florida where he currently resides. On today’s Oldies Sunday, we look back at a single from the “Doctor“, Beenie Man! Recently he celebrated his 44th birthday, and we wanted to show love to one of the living Legends of Dancehall. Today we look at “Maestro“, an Opera inspired single that was produced by Patrick Roberts for Shocking Vibes Production on the “Sore Riddim” and released in 1996. Here Beenie further proclaims being “The Girls Dem Sugar” and shows love to the ladies who command attention, and are the “Wife” type. What really makes this single stand out, is Beenie’s delivery which is similar to an Opera Singer’s. “Maestro” was the first track featured on Beenie Man’s 1996 Album of the same name.

Music genres, nations, and personalities clashed in the latest staging of the Red Bull Culture Clash on August 25! Held today at 787 Windsor in Atlanta, Georgia, we got to witness the clash of a few titans in numerous rounds of “Tune fi tune, dub fi dub” Sound System sparring. Featuring “Team Unruly” which was lead by Dancehall Artist Popcaan (who was unfortunately absent), “Disturbing LDN” which was lead by Recording Artist Tinie Tempah, “Enjoy Life” which was lead by Producer WondaGurl, and “Ear Drummers” which was lead by Producer MikeWillMadeIt. Last year, International Recording Artist/Producer M.I.A. announced the release of her 5th Album, AIM. One surprise on that Album was a collaboration with Dancehall Artist Dexta Daps called “Foreign Friend“. Earlier this year, M.I.A. previewed a second track with the Singjay during a livestream, and today we have it! Titled “Load ‘Em“, Dexta delivers his signature sound to get the party started over a production that sounds like a blend of Jamaican and Indian influences while M.I.A. chants at different points of the song. @DenaiMoore Heads To The Motherland For Her “Desolately Devoted” Visual!

Introducing to the Blog today is a young lady who goes by the name, Denai Moore. She has been doing her thing for quite a while overseas, but she calls Jamaica the land of her birth. Recently, she released her 2nd Album titled “We Used To Bloom” (Get It Here). Today, I present to you a visual from that Album titled “Desolately Devoted“. Directed by Travys Owen and shot in the South African Desert, Denai speaks on the good and bad feelings associated with wanting to be with someone. It’s always two sides when it comes to relationships, you either want to go with it, or you hold back because you don’t want to let down your guard. In the video we see her oozing with “Black Girl Magic” as she makes various colourful outfit changes to blend with the breathtaking backdrops.
