Reggae/Dancehall Artist I-Octane has been at the forefront of the music scene for a very long time. With songs that resonate with the experiences of the everyday Man, he has secured a heavy catalogue that is enjoyed worldwide. He will have moments of controversy, but the music prevails. Outside of the Studio, his everyday life comes with challenges, but he walks with faith, and other times he will “Walk Wid A Chip“.

Produced by Good Good Productions, I-Octane stays protected spiritually and physically in, “Walk Wid A Chip”. The Deejay speaks on the type of people he has to deal with daily, and he is more inclined to stay by himself, and keep something close in case someone wants to bring harm to him. The new single will connect with listeners with relatable lyrics, and the Deejay plans to keep it active with additional content in the coming days. “Walk Wid A Chip” is off I-Octane’s “God & I” album, his latest release. For close to 2 decades, Dancehall Artist I-Octane has delivered songs that tap into the everyday life of people. From songs to dance to, to songs that have you thinking about life, he has been one of the Artists on the frontline making a difference with some relatable music. Love him or hate him, his catalogue is extensive. Earlier, he shared the visual for the new single, “Opportunist“.

Directed by Bling Blang, “Opportunist” is I-Octane’s collaboration with Shane O, and together they talk about separating themselves from those who seek to drain their energy, distancing themselves from the users and abusers, putting themselves first, and ending the cycle. Those type of people had their run of doing damage, but today it stops. The video finds the Artists being caught up in a colorless place where people with negative energy are trying to hold them back, but they make their escape into the real world in the end. “Opportunist” was produced by NiNi Records/Conquer The Globe, and is out now. Round of applause.

December 31, 2019 marks the last day of the 2010s, and January 1, 2020 will mark the first day of a new decade. It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times, but today we look back at some of Dancehall Artists who have made an impact on the scene. With so many hits and moments, we know lists and faves will vary. Before we start, we want to thank everyone who has given our Blog and Social Media a chance since 2012. We’ve featured so many and have assisted in the careers of plenty, we look forward to doing even more in 2020, and beyond. Let’s get started with our lengthy list.

Vybz Kartel

I mean, what’s a list without the “World Boss“? A man who continued to add fuel to the fire of his musical career, long after making his debut in the early 2000s. With his entrepreneurial side blooming with a Shoe line, Liquor line, Nightclub, Merch, to even Condoms, Vybz was everywhere. He even had a Reality TV series, and kept up with quite a bit of controversy too. Despite him being thrown behind bars in 2011 and facing 35 years soon after, it didn’t stop him from recording music, and releasing singles and albums up to this day. Remember his “Freaky Girl” saga? We know you all have a few Kartel tracks in rotation.

Spice

Spice is also an Artist you can’t deny when it comes to this list as well. Spice held it down for the ladies, and showed the men that she can handle her own. With so many bookings, i’m surprised there isn’t a row or an Airline named after her yet. Spice kept the hits coming, and flexed her entrepreneurial muscle as well with her “Spicey Couture” store which started growing since opening in 2009. With the help of Social Media, Spice’s brand got bigger, and took a major turn in 2018 when she was made a cast member on the popular VH1 Reality TV series, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”. Spice welcomed her share of controversy as well which included relationship issues, and the topic of Colorism. With her career starting in the early 2000s, she kept the fire going like her “World Boss” colleague, and got crowned Queen in the process.

The word “Bayo” comes from the Yoruba language meaning “She brings us joy“. Today, Code Red Sound Selector DJ Lank will assist in the joy you will receive this summer with the release of his first official production, the “Bayo Riddim“! Described as “A modern version of that old time Jamaican, Poco Man Skank type of vibe“, Lank promises that the Bayo Riddim will be one of your 2019 favourites, and will have the world dancing up a storm. With Artists like Tifa, Beenie Man, I-Octane, ZJ Liquid, Coppershot Cutty, Blak Diamon, Chris Dymond, and Medikk having singles on the Riddim, expect these to turn into mainstream hits, and increase the vibes wherever the party is!

With a career starting in High School, DJ Lank has been providing the sound at various events locally and Internationally for many years. Whether he’s selecting alongside his Code Red Sound family or handling business solo, Lank never fails in getting the people moving and enjoying themselves. Having released a project with International Recording Artist Gyptian recently, DJ Lank felt the time was right to get the “Bayo Riddim” out in the streets, and looks forward to feedback from listeners. While you can find him at your favourite events this summer, Lank promises there will be more Riddims for you to enjoy.
