NEW MUSIC: @TPain x @KardinalO – Dis A My Ting (RAW)

TPain

Inspired by Dancehall music is T Pain’s latest single. Titled “Dis A My Ting“, this features Kardinal Offishall and an unnamed young lady on the chorus. Together they drop a little Dancehall and some Jamaican inflections in this bass heavy Hip Hop track. Interesting single from T-Pain but something you can play at ignorant levels. Off his upcoming “The Iron Way” mixtape which features DJ Drama and DJ Trendsetter, check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @KardinalO

KOBeing one of the top Hip Hop acts in North America, Kardinal Offishall has always reached out to the land of his heritage, Jamaica. From collaborating with top Dancehall acts to incorporating Dancehall styles in his songs, Kardinal always managed to keep a close link to Canada and Jamaica. Tonight on Onstage he spoke about his new position at Universal Music, his recent nomination at the JUNO Awards, his upbringing, collaborating with Bounty Killa that gave him his break in Jamaica, promoting new music on the island, and creating a movement to help Caribbean artists, designers, and producers to bring their talent to a larger audience. Great interview here, Kardinal also premiered the music video for his “Tattoo/Rude Bwoy” single which was shot in Jamaica. I commend him for donating to the Clonmel Primary and Junior High as well. NEW MUSIC: @KardinalO (Kardinal Offishall) x @BunjiGarlin – Famous

Today’s new music comes from Canadian Rapper Kardinal Offishall and Trinidad’s Bunji Garlin. Titled “Famous” and produced by Ricky Blaze, we hear the two artists letting the ladies know that rolling with them may make them famous and they also tell their experiences with ladies who approached them before knowing that they’re famous. Good effort by the rapper and Soca artist, nice flow by Bunji as well. The hook sounds radio ready and this is a fun production by Ricky Blaze. Come and say hi, you know i’m famous. What you think of the song? Check it out below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

While the event started later than the announced 3 pm, customers and onlookers got to see the new t shirt along with other creations by REPJA owners and designers Andre Allen, Omar Thomas, and Prince Graham. Since their inception in 2007, REPJA has managed to gain recognition all over the world. With celebrities such as Shaggy, Leon from Dormtainment, Beenie Man, and Konshens rocking the gear, their collaboration with I Octane marks as their Introduction to the Jamaican market. The design features a robotic hand forming the “gun fingers” gesture to signify the phrase “Buss A Blank” which is the name of I Octane’s hit. Patrons were also treated to music juggling  by DJ Vise, dancing by DanceJA and BG Dancerz, and performances from Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall and of course I Octane. The t shirt will be available at Base Kingston, REPJA.com, and select venues where I Octane will be performing. The shirt is so cool, I’m sorry I didn’t get one. OLDIES SUNDAY: Chaka Demus And Pliers – Murder She Wrote (1992)

In recognition of French Montana and Nicki Minaj’s hit, “Freaks“, today I feature one of the songs that was sampled in it. Titled “Murder She Wrote“, this was a very popular hit of legendary duo Chaka Demus and Pliers. Released in 1992 and produced by Sly and Robbie on the “Bam Bam” remake riddim, this song was described as a song for the ladies with an “Angel face but a Devil’s heart“. This song spoke about a girl named Maxine who was a user, very promiscuous, and was also a murderer. According to the artists, this was written off an experience but with a few details omitted.
