Reggie Stepper’s “Cu Oonuh” Sampled On @Logic301’s “Bobby Tarantino 2”!

Are there any Logic fans here? Known for dropping stand out lyrics in the modern era of Hip Hop, he continues to expand his brand with the release of his latest Mixtape, “Bobby Tarantino 2“. Comprised of 13 tracks, he tackles various issues, brings along some of his friends, and makes listeners know he’s still sharp with the bars. Starting off track 11 however, listeners may hear some familiar vocals. Previously heard on Kanye West’s 2012 track “Mercy“, Dancehall/Reggae Artist Reggie Stepper’sCu Oonuh” was sampled on the Big Sean featured, “Wassup“! “Cu Oonuh” was produced by the late Winton Riley on the Stalag Riddim, and released on the Techniques label in 1993. “Wassup”, which was produced by 6ix, borrows the legendary intro of the track which was done by Fuzzy Jones. “Cu Oonuh” was also sampled on Lil Wayne and Drake’s “Believe Me“, and The Roots’ “Push Up Ya Lighter“. Logic is no stranger to performing on Dancehall/Reggae samples as Barrington Levy’s “The Vibes Is Right” was sampled on his 2016 track, “44 Bars“.

Logic’s “Bobby Tarantino 2” is now available on all major streaming services. Hear the tracks below.

Third World Meets Tuff Gong: Songs That Sampled @BobMarley & @ThirdWorldBand

February 6 marks the day two Reggae legends were born, Bob Marley, and Bunny Rugs. Bob Marley started out in Trench Town, and became a larger than life Icon while Bunny Rugs made his mark as a Solo Artist, and Lead Vocalist for one of Reggae’s most successful Bands, Third World. While many pay respects to them today, we’d like to look back at a few songs that further immortalized them through samples. Samples will come from Bob Marley’s solo singles, or with The Wailers, and from Third World Band during Rugs’ time. Enjoy!

1. Bob Marley & The Wailers – Johnny Was (1976)

Sampled on: Notorious B.I.G. – Hold Ya Head (2005)

2. Third World – Got To Get Along (1976)

Sampled on: Little Brother ft. Mos Def – Let It Go (2006)

.@KansHTG & @DaleyHTG Are All About The Laid Back Vibe In “Chill Suite” Video!

After releasing his EP “Indelible Colours” at the top of the month, Mobay based Rapper Chance has been enjoying favourable feedback from listeners. As promised, he would be releasing more product throughout 2018. The first offering since the EP is the visual for his 2017 track, “Chill Suite“! Shot by Romario Lynch a.k.a. “Seen By Lynch” in Portland, the visual features fellow collaborator Daley, and a Creative you’ll being seeing more often this year, Gyal Kapone (friend of the Blog). Fellow collaborator OneLoveTheo though not physically there, adds audio. While the song brought some laid back vibes, the video does the same as Daley and Chance are hosts to a few lovely ladies at a lil hideaway spot. Only thing missing from this video are some dope graphics, and a few wild moments (wink wink). If you haven’t heard it yet, Chance’s “Indelible Colours EP” is available here.
