OLDIES SUNDAY: The Chosen Few – In The Rain (1972)

While the Caribbean and parts of the world are experiencing rainy days, today’s Oldies Sunday focuses on a different type of rain. Today’s selection comes from the Reggae Band The Chosen Few with the track, “In The Rain“!

Produced by the late King Sporty and released through Micron Music Limited in 1972, this is a cover of The Dramatics’ 1971 hit, and one of a few Reggae versions done. With many references to actual rain, The Chosen Few are speaking about heartbreak and needing to go out in the rain so no one can see them crying. A song for those who have been experiencing breakups and hurt, The Chosen Few delivered something that comforts the listener. King Sporty’s production on this blends Reggae, Funk, and Soul for something really special. The track was featured on The Chosen Few’s 1976 “Night & Day” a.k.a. “The Chosen Few In Miami” album. We featured it last year in our Youtube video titled, “Rainy Day“, feel free to check it out below.

Will The Wolf Holds On To “Hope” In New Video!

Trinidad’s Will The Wolf is a different type of artist. Having made a couple debuts this year, his music and visuals definitely stand out from the crowd. With his 3rd release, the VOISIC produced “Hope“, he gets into something that many of us can relate to.

With a video directed by Will himself while Thrillstory captures it all, we get a song that’s a tearjerker as it deals with lost relationships, missing that special someone, with the visuals showing us the depression that one goes through, and the hope some have that there will be a reunion. With the year seeing many breakups and fall outs, some of us are going through it, but trying to stay positive through it. Hang in there! Great song by Will The Wolf, and a very clean visual from him and the team!

OLDIES SUNDAY: Ruddy Thomas – Key To The World (1982)

It’s Wedding SZN! For the month of June, Oldies Sunday will feature some love songs that can be a great addition to your Wedding Playlists, and could be the official song to dance to. Today we go back to the year 1982 with the late Ruddy Thomas’Key To The World“! Produced by Roy Forbes Allen with arrangement by FranklinBubbler Waul” and released through the Hawkeye Label, this was a cover of The Dramatics member L.J. Reynolds’ 1981 single. Here, Ruddy Thomas gives us soulful lyrics letting the lady in his life know that if he had the world, she’d never be in need, and he’ll provide in a way a man’s supposed to. This version showcased Ruddy’s vocals in a way that was sure to bring a tingle to all the ladies who heard it.

With a few hits under his belt, Ruddy Thomas lent his vocals to the likes of Peter Tosh, and was a Recording Engineer for projects by Sugar Minott, Leroy Smart, Yellowman, and Beres Hammond. Ruddy Thomas passed away in 2006 as a result of a Heart Attack during a performance in Jamaica. His music remains timeless, and still are being played all around the world.
