2017 has been pretty Good to Royal Blu. From releasinG a few tracks includinG “Meanwhile” with Leno Banton, to GoinG on his first International Tour with Runkus & The Old Skl Bond, “El fueGo” has been doinG well. Recently, he announced that he will be releasinG an EP with German Producer Tim Foresta titled, “sinG with God“. To hold listeners over till its release, he drops the title track. With Foresta on the boards and featurinG Runkus, we Get a Future reGGae joint that will make you move your feet, and be taken away to another dimension. Expect the lyrics that’ll make you rewind numerous times from the duo on this one too. Artwork for this sinGle was provided by the awesome Taj Francis so be sure to take it in while listeninG. If there was a video for this, I could picture a few scenes. Lyrics fi di brave, are you willinG to be saved with me? While she has been showcasing her talents for a while, the spotlight got a bit bigger when it was announced that she’ll be joining the good folks at Reggae Artist Protoje’s In.digg.nation Collective. You’ve heard her on tracks with Protoje, Koro Fyah, and Royal Blu, but 13th Street Promotions caught up with her recently for a quick “Innerview”! 13thStreetPromo: Hey Lila! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to rock with us. Many have heard you on tracks like Protoje’s “Flight Plans“, and on your debut single, “Biggest Fan“, but who is the Artist named Lila Ike?

Lila Ike: Thanks for having me. To keep it simple and sweet, Lila Iké is a chill person who just enjoys creating and vibing.

13thSP: When did you discover that you could sing, and when did you decide that you want to pursue a music career?

LI: I discovered I could really sing during my years in Primary School (Elementary School). Realizing how good I was, I decided I wanted to pursue it as a career during my time in University.

Giving you nothing but talented Artists in a acoustic setting, this is what you need for not only on a Sunday, but for everyday! This week, an Artist who is no stranger to the series, Kapital Stone, is back with a new performance! With Wizzmer providing the Guitar, they perform the Kris Karz produced, “Hate Then Love“. In the song, Stone aims to spread awareness on Domestic Abuse as he tries to help an old friend who is experiencing it. An Issue that is still very much a serious one, Kapital Stone delivers it in the best way he could, and closes it off with a few lyrics from Legendary Singer Sade’s “By Your Side“.

If you didn’t know, legendary Reggae/Dancehall Artist Sizzla Kalonji recently released his latest Album, “I’m Yours“. With Billboard charting Producer JonFX handling the Album’s sound, many wouldn’t expect this: US Rapper XXXTentacion on a track! Featuring JonFX, the “Look At Me!” Rapper hopped on Sizzla’s “My Girl“! Getting into a lil patois, XXX shares lyrics on admiring the beautiful features of a woman, and making that gun bust like the 90’s while we hear Sizzla get into his love for the black woman. A collaboration we never expected to happen, but it sounds good! Sizzla’s “I’m Yours” is now available online, check out the track below.

Discovered What? We look Back At Burning Spear’s “Columbus” (1980)

We wanted to drop this yesterday on “Oldies Sunday“, but didn’t get to. While today many Americans recognize “Columbus Day“, many folks have done their revision on World History over the years, and have since challenged the higher ups to discredit the “Discoveries” of Christopher Columbus and recognize the day as “Indigenous Peoples Day“. While the European Explorer made his travels with the Pinta, Nina, and Santa Maria, he couldn’t have discovered land that was already occupied. Calling him out on the claims is Reggae Icon Burning Spear with “Columbus“!

Released in 1980, and featured on his Album “Hail H.I.M.“, Spear calls out Columbus as a “Damn blasted liar” and sets the record straight on what the Explorer really did. He didn’t discover Jamaica or all the lands he has claimed to discover! What happened to the Arawak people? What happened to the black people that were already here? Why are they still celebrating this man? There have been protests for years, and there will be more until the day is more recognized for Indigenous People (big up the 55 cities in the US that have made the change). Stay woke!
