Today’s new music comes from Jah 9 and Protoje. Titled “Legitimate” and produced by Rory Stone Love, we hear the two Reggae artists dropping conscious lyrics about living life righteously, love, and being positive over a soothing production. This is track 11 off Jah 9’s “New Name” album which has been receiving rave reviews all around. Great song to meditate to. “New Name” is still on iTunes so get it today. NEW VIDEO: @AlaineSinga x @RealiOctane – Lighters Up

Today’s new video comes from Reggae artists I Octane and Alaine. Titled “Lighters Up” and directed by Scorpio 21, we see the two artists side by side singing and promoting positivity. A decent effoert but while the message is a great one I personally would’ve loved to have seen more from this. My idea for this would’ve had shots on top of a tall building overlooking the city, and maybe a community with children. Shine your lighters high! What you think? OLDIES SUNDAY: Alton Ellis – Willow Tree (1967)

After dropping Raine Seville’s “Willow Tree” yesterday, I felt it was only right to play one of the original songs. Today I feature a song by the late Alton Ellis a.k.a. the GodFather of Rocksteady. Titled “Willow Tree” and produced by Coxsone Records in 1967, this was a cover of Chuck Jackson’s “My Willow Tree” which was done in 1962 but never made it to the music charts. This song is about finding new song all while sparing the “Willow Tree” from sharing the pain of past failed relationships.

NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @CureAgain (Jah Cure)

While prepping for his big performance at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records “Behind The Screen” series, Jah Cure linked up with Winford Williams on the Onstage set. In this Interview he spoke about his first official performance in Kingston, the “Songs of Redemption” film, his management, his previous album, and his upcoming projects. Jah Cure also previewed the video for his single “That Girl“. Good Interview, I liked that he spoke on management not handling his businesses properly and why his last album wasn’t given the proper promotion. NEW MUSIC: @RaineSeville – Willow Tree

Today’s new music comes from singer Raine Seville. Titled “Willow Tree” and produced by Locke City Music Group, this is a cover version of the late Alton Ellis’ 1967 single of the same name with a little twist. This song is about finding new love and sparing the “Willow Tree” from crying  for Raine’s past experiences. As the lyrics say once a tear has fallen, the willow tree weeps eternally but Raine  made it clear that she won’t cry over past associates and shall move on with her life. A good effort from Raine, fresh off her controversial single with Konshens, this single hears her saluting a legend and her being able to move on from situations. What you think of the song? Mixtape Movements: @HardDayzSoReal – The Gyalist Mixtape Pt. 2

With no announcements or teasers, Blu Rok member Hard Dayz dropped the 2nd part of his “The Gyalist” Mixtape. Featuring 17 tracks including shout outs from some females and musical peers, Dayz brings the same energy from his previous effort. Featuring production from SOS Dynamikz and verses from Lady Livi, SOS, and Vindon, this is another good listen from the multifaceted artist.
