Chronic Law & @Valiant_Musiq Hold A Meds On “Darkness”!

This one has been in the making for a long time. Dancehall Artist Valiant continues to bring his name to more listeners and extend his profile with well-crafted tracks. This time around he teams up with the boss Chronic Law on, “Darkness“.

With a video directed by Shane Creative, Chronic Law and Valiant hold a meds on the much-anticipated collaboration. “Darkness” was produced by Droptop Records, and the Artists share their observations and experiences from the lives they live. Chronic Law continues to show his heavy work ethic as he hasn’t missed a month when it comes to releasing content, and with Valiant on a track, they can’t miss. Like the Bots on Youtube, these Artists haven’t disappointed their fans, and we look forward to even more collaborations.

Dancehall has always shed a light about the struggle, and the good times that people have experienced. Many practitioners of the genre have made songs that spoke about the everyday life, and what one can expect in them. For St. Thomas based Dancehall Artist Shaqstar, he uses it to speak about pain in “Drowning“.

With a video directed by Hot Spot Studios Cinematography, Shaqstar shares his pain and sorrow. Paired with his vices, Shaqstar shares that life isn’t easy, and he is tested everyday. Depression is real out there, and Shaqstar uses the music as a form of therapy, and many listeners will be able to relate to the lyrics. “Drowning” was produced by Blueface Records on the “Silence Riddim“. Shaqstar has been busy progressing thanks to release of his “Seaforth Son” EP, and he looks to make his name bigger over the course of time. The topic of Mental Health continues to grow in Jamaica, and we hope there will be more safe spaces and platforms for those who are fighting battles mentally. Take it a day at a time.

Recording Artists Leno Banton and Blvk H3ro continue to make big moves in their respective careers, and show that not even Covid 19 can stop their progressions. While 2020 found them experimenting with new sounds and collaborations, they can safely say that taking the chances has paid off for them, and fueled their ambitions going into the new year. Kicking off February being “Black History Month“, Leno Banton released his highly anticipated visual for “Brown Sugar“, while Blvk H3ro released the visual for “Go Fi Mine (Chop E Line)“.

First up to bat is Leno Banton’s “Brown Sugar” which was shot by MVRK. In the video, Leno finds himself becoming the “Loverman“, while highlighting the feminine beauty with the help of the lovely trio of ChrissyStage, Danakdi, and Stephanie Lawrence. A colourful visual with awesome set design by Celine Alana and Osunya Rose handling the styling, expect this video to become a 2021 favourite.

Blvk H3ro continues to show that you have to put in the work for what you want in the visual for the Dunrich Muzik produced, “Go Fi Mine (Chop E Line)“. Shot by Dream Life Image Photography and shot in St. Thomas, Blvk H3ro shows here that it doesn’t matter what job you’re doing, just as long as you’re taking care of what’s important to you. From Taxi Man, to Vendor, to Construction Worker, to Garbage Collector, to Gas Pump Attendant, Blvk H3ro takes on many roles here, and keeps the message solid that you should go for what you want.

Who am I? I’m that…you know the rest. Dropping the remix to their “I’m That…” single is US Virgin Islands duo Rock City. Featuring contributions from Beenie Man and NY Rapper Azealia Banks, a Caribbean connection is made and lines from “Sim Simma” are borrowed. Rock City have been in the music business for a pretty long time and have worked with the likes of Akon, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson and much more. After a long hiatus, Oldies Sunday is back!

Today’s Oldies Sunday entry comes from the Reggae Band, Third World. Titled “1865 (96 Degrees In The Shade)“, this was a single of their 2nd album of the same name which was released in 1977 on Island Records. In the song they sing about the Morant Bay Riots of 1865 which resulted in the death of 400 blacks during the riot and 350 more through hangings which included National Heroes Paul Bogle and George William Gordon. The line “96 Degrees In The Shade” suggests the temperature on that day, real hot!
