Nothing like getting new music, and we’re glad to deliver it to you! Today’s new entry comes from UK Recording Artist Biz as she teams up with Jamaican Producer Wavy Jones for her new single, “No Fuss“. Here she gives listeners a lil bit of Hip Hop and R&B as she speaks on being a “Ride or die Chick“, not bringing drama, and being a one of a kind girl for someone who will treat her right. She lets us in on some of her experiences in a relationship, and lets that person know that if he doesn’t act right, she’ll move on. If she’s the one you need, you have to let her know. Jones’ sampled based production on this track fits the lyrics well and definitely adds to the replay value. Imagine a video for this track. R&B Veteran Keith Sweat always had a thing for delivering that feel good grown folks music. From his debut decades ago, he has been the one to turn up the heat for the ladies. Recently, he released his 13th studio album, “Playing For Keeps“. While fans know what to expect from the R&B Crooner, his collaboration with Dancehall Artist Alkaline on “Fuego” was a pump on the brakes. The track, which also features Akon and RayFade, boasts some modern production and encourages you to bust a move throughout. Are there hints of Aidonia and Di Genius’ “Fi Di Jockey” and Donovan Germaine and Dave Kelly’s “Dickie” Riddims I hear? Alkaline held his own on this track and this a huge look for not only the Dancehall Artist, but for the genre on a whole. Big up the Detta Boss. Keith Sweat’s new album is out now. Recently, Kevin Anthony Jackson o/c the Veteran Reggae/Dancehall Artist “Sanchez“, was recognized by the Government of Jamaica for his contribution to the music industry in the form of a street being renamed in his honour. “Park Lane“, off Red Hills Rd in St. Andrew, made way for “Sanchez Drive” and was met with much fanfare. We’d like to honour the living legend in one of the best ways we know how. Hitting up Spotify, we curated some of Sanchez’s greatest cover singles in the first volume of our “Cover Kings” series. OLDIES SUNDAY: Chalice – Sayonara (1986)

Today’s Oldies Sunday was one that should’ve been posted a long time ago, but a recent event inspired its publishing. Remember when Dancehall Artist Shenseea released the visual for her “ShenYeng Anthem“? While many enjoyed the single, there were mixed reviews for the music video because of its intro. With today’s entry, I feel there would be some “outrage” from some folks if this was released today (some folks argue about every little thing online). Today’s entry comes from Chalice (though they were featured before, this song features mostly one of their Vocalists) with their single, “Sayonara“. Written by the legendary Lloyd Lovindeer, this was performed by one of the band’s Vocalists, Wayne Armond. Released through CTS Records in 1986, and Bold Reprive Records in 1987, this track features some Oriental influenced production with Wayne singing about his experiences with a Japanese woman in Jamaica. “Sayonara” (which means “Goodbye” in Japanese) was featured on the band’s “Crossfire” album and was popular in the 80’s and early 90’s. The video for the single was shot in Portland and featured the Boston Jerk Centre. Get familiar with something old by checking out the track below, and share with a friend.
