Jamaican Hip Hop collective The Council a.k.a. The Council of the Gods returns with new music. Despite the pandemic putting a halt to many things, Five Steez, The Sickest Drama, and Nomad Carlos managed to fight through the blocks, and make something happen. Finally seeing an opening, they stepped out with their latest offering titled, “Trilogy“.

Featuring 8 tracks, The Council teamed up with the legendary Equiknoxx Music label. Production come from the minds of Time Cow, Son Raw, and Sawandi, and they present Dub, Jazz, and Electronica inspired beats to build a great vibe. The Council in true fashion stepped out with their usual lyrical abilities, and handled each beat like they’re supposed to. While every Dancehall and Reggae Artist got a chance to put out new music this year in the middle of the pandemic, Jamaican Hip Hop had to show up and make some noise. Tune in to something new today.

OLDIES SUNDAY: @BusySignal_Turf – Step Out (2005)

The 2000s gave us some awesome Dancehall music, don’t you agree? Today’s Oldies Sunday selections brings some energy from that era courtesy of Busy Signal! Today we feature his breakout hit, “Step Out“! Produced by Equiknoxx Music on the “Step Out Riddim“, this was released in 2005 and had eyes and ears focused on Busy as he brought a unique sound to the game.

The song proved to be successful as it helped to propel the Deejay onto the forefront of the Dancehall scene. The success didn’t come without controversy however as various Producers were credited to producing the track. In the end, the true Producers were given the proper recognition, and the track went on to be featured on many compilations including Busy Signal’s 2006 debut album, “Step Out“. Since “Step Out”, Busy has went on to release many more hit singles and projects. Though he was in trouble with the law and found himself in the midst of various feuds, Busy’s career went on to flourish to this day.

NEW MUSIC: @KingBiggsSOL x Julesborg – MTV Girls

Despite having a minor setback on his “XXII” project, King Biggs dropped off his second single. Titled “MTV Girls” which features Julesborg, Biggs describes the song as a personal testimony to how reality TV has impacted a generation of Jamaicans in the 1990s to 2000s. Mixtape Movements: @EquiKnoxx_Music x @KabakaPyramid – DubPlates In Dub

Today’s Mixtape comes from the tag team of Equiknoxx Music and Kabaka Pyramid. Titled “Dubplates In Dub“, Kabaka pays tribute to the Jamaican Sound System culture by recording 6 original tracks and freestyles over Channel One instrumentals. Following in the same steps as the “Equiknoxx Introduces Masicka To King Tubby” mixtape, this is sure to bring the new and old generations together.
