The single that prepped many for the release of “Ancient Future” finally got the visual treatment. “Answer To Your Name“, which was directed by Charlie Sarsfield and Jordan Bond, shows “Diggy” in the UK pursuing a young lady whom he met previously but has constantly ignored him since his arrival in Brixton. Lots of fashion picks in this video along with the infectious Ska influenced single. Dropping another selection off his “Ancient Future” album today is Reggae artist, Protoje. Titled “Criminal” and produced by Winta James, Diggy drops some conscious lyrics with a little history lesson. A single that makes you go back to the history books to learn about Peter Tosh, Free I, Leonard Howell, Dutty Boukman, and more. Amazing comic book styled cover art by 1ndividual out of Trinidad. Boasting a successful career, Protoje doesn’t see it losing steam anytime soon now that he has released his “Ancient Future” album. Tonight he joined Winford Williams on Onstage to speak on that and more. Here he spoke on “Ancient Future” and its success on the iTunes charts, the meaning of “Ancient Future“, upcoming tour dates, bringing more Roots Reggae to the world, supporting his fellow artists, working on a school tour, and more. “Ancient Future” is a very solid album and I’m happy for its success and I know Protoje will be doing more for Jamaica and Roots Reggae around the world. With his Ancient Future album finally being released, Protoje went over the shores and stopped by Hot 97’s “Ebro In The Morning” show. Here he gave a little on his background, his album, the difference between his music and other music in Jamaica, liking Hip Hop and Reggae influencing the genre, the decriminalizing of Marijuana in Jamaica, and more. Pretty short interview but still a good one. Protoje’s riding high off Ancient Future’s success as it has topped a few Reggae and iTunes charts. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae Musician, Errol Dunkley. Titled “Black Cinderella“, this was produced by Jimmy Rodway for Fe Me Time Records in 1972. Errol considered it a tribute to hard working black women, but it sounded more like a love song than the aforementioned idea. The creation for this came about when Jimmy introduced Errol to one of his poems of the same name. After some adjustments, Errol recorded the single and it immediately became a hit in a time of Black Empowerment.
