What’s better than listening to a Vybz Kartel song? Listening to many of them in one sitting of course! With many unsure of the chances of the “World Boss” being a free man anytime soon, it’s good that we have plenty of his music to hold us over till then. Having had a run of Vybz Kartel themed mixtapes, DJ Heavy D of the big bad Chromatic Sound delivers another one in time for the holiday party season. Titled “Str8 Vybz Vol. 1“, we get over an hour of Addi hits, dubplates, collaborations, and some offerings from some of his “children” that we know you’ll love all over again. In case you didn’t know, this is also promotion for the upcoming “Str8 Vybz” event to be held in New Kingston in December. Check out Str8 Vybz here for more info on that. The ladies are gonna go crazy for this one. If you’re a follower of Dancehall Artist Konshens, you know he always has a fire tune for the ladies. Recently, he released a bunch of them via a project titled, “Raw“. With 14 tantalizing tracks, the temperature will definitely climb even in the coldest of spaces when this is played. What will open the flood gates however, is track #9 “Say My Name” featuring Dexta Daps, another Artist who keeps the ladies on cloud 9 consistently. Produced by Dre Day and SOS Dynamikz (a lil about him here), the duo are competing for the #1 spot for the ladies, as they know what they do to ensure the women come back for more. Dancehall & Reggae Music continue to influence many worldwide whether through the various sounds, lyrics, or even some of the people who create from the genres. Today’s entry is no different as famed Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder dabbled in a bit of the sounds in his latest compilation album, “Jamla Is The Squad 2“! While the album features a host of tracks for every flavour, it’s the opening track that will surprise and awe many. On “Welcome To JamRoc“, the opening vocals come courtesy of Dancehall Artist Quick Cook, while the following production samples Damian “Junior Gong” Marley’s “Welcome To JamRock“, and Ini Kamoze’s “World A Music“. With 9th tackling the production, Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, Reuben Vincent, and Ian Kelly provide the lyrics that go well with the dope sounds. This isn’t the first time 9th sampled Jamaican music as he borrowed sounds from The Mighty Diamonds on the tracks “L.A.” and “Bad Man” by MURS, and Third World on the track “Let It Go” by Little Brother. In case you didn’t know, popular Afrobeat Recording Artist Mr. Eazi released the 2nd volume in his “Life Is Eazi” mixtape series. With a blend of new sounds and familiar names, this project is one to keep on repeat. One of the familiar names that appears on the project is Jamaica’s own Chronixx on the track “She Loves Me“. With a rather upbeat production, the duo speak on the roller coaster loving they each experience with their respective love interests. A song many can relate to as mixed signals can be a detriment to a budding relationship, and then there are those who have ulterior motives. Be careful as to not let another person misuse your love.
