@Protoje’s “Answer To Your Name” Featured In New @LethalWeaponFox Episode!

It’s been over two years since the release of Recording Artist Protoje’s “Ancient Future“, and it’s still a banger! What’s your favourite song off of it? Still wish it won a Grammy. If you’re a viewer of the hit FOX TV series Lethal Weapon, then you might’ve heard a familiar song from the Artist in their latest episode. Kicking off the first 30 seconds was the first single off the 2015 Album, “Answer To Your Name“! Produced by Winta James and Lewis Planter, Protoje went into storytelling mode on this one and had influences of Ska throughout the Production.

Lethal Weapon is a TV series based on the popular “Buddy Cop” Comedy Movie franchise which stars Comedian Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford. The Movie starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Sidenote: Congrats to the new Dad Protoje, we hope the Lion Cub is ready for a fun life filled with good music and sights to see. Check out the clip below.

While there are those who are heavily influenced by the 90’s and Underground movements, the new wave are influenced by the “Trap Music” culture. One of those acts who has started to make some noise in recent times is Gotti OG. A member of Jamaican Creative Deth’s (a.k.a. ShotByDeth) “FOREVER” Label (More on that later), he kicks off the month of October with “WockStar“! Produced by Cloud Beats, Gotti speaks on the life of a RockStar complete with beautiful ladies at his reach, acquiring designer gear, and making his presence felt everywhere with his crew. After adding an extra flame to an already hot Summer with the single, the “Dungeon Dragon” Busta Rhymes finally dropped the highly anticipated visual for his Tory Lanez and Vybz Kartel featured, “Girlfriend“! Directed by Benny Boom and Busta Rhymes, this features a star studded cast from some of the biggest names in Dancehall (Spice, Ninja Man, Foota Hype, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Junior Reid, Ravers Clavers) as Busta Rhymes takes a trip to Jamaica with Spliff Star to build a vibe with friends. Lots of phone calls, dancing, and good vibes in this one. Vybz Kartel continues to make moves despite his situation, but imagine if he was free? He would be touring off these guest features. Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” Sampled On New @TamarBraxtonHer Album!

What a Bam Bam! With one of the most sampled Dancehall singles to date, Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” continues to make more noise all over the world! Adding to the list of Artists who have blessed the sample is US Recording Artist, Tamar Braxton! With her new Album, “Blue Bird Of Happiness“, she recently announced that it will be her final Album as she’ll be focusing on her family. “Bam Bam” received the sample treatment on the track, “Run Run” which was produced by Troy Taylor and Bridgetown, and appears as track 3 on the Album. “Bam Bam” was released in 1982, produced by Winston Riley, and has been sampled/featured on tracks by the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Guerilla Black, Lauryn Hill, Kat DeLuna. The single was even featured in a Reebok Commercial.

Dancehall/Reggae Producer Don Corleonie is also featured on Tamar’s Album. He is credited as a Writer on the final track, “Empty Boxes“. Check out “Run Run” below, “Blue Bird Of Happiness” is available here.

Featuring 16 tracks, the Rappers Five Steez, The Sickest Drama, Nomad Carlos, and Inztinkz promises that Jamaican Hip Hop and the “First Coast Movement” will be on another level with this project. From songs featuring Social Commentary, reminiscing on the “Golden Era”, everyday struggle, to just flexing their lyrical abilities, NEM has something for those who need an escape from the “Mumble Rap” and want to hear “Real Rap“. The Album also features verses from Kabaka Pyramid, Koro Fyah, Massy The Creator, Tha God Fahim, Illicit King, Triple Tr8, J Militia, and Beast while Inztinkz guides them all with some amazing Production.
