2017 Faves: @Protoje – BLOOD MONEY (#1)

As 2017 comes to a close, we look back at a few songs that were favourites on the Blog for the year. While we can’t name EVERY one, we’ll give you 5 (in no particular order so hold off on the ego) to reminisce on, or get familiar with.

Ending our list today is the one they call “Diggy British“, Protoje with “BLXXD MONEY (a.k.a. BLXXD MONEY)”! Produced by Winta James and released in February, Protoje sees red as he calls out Corruption, Classism, Injustice, and those who practice it in Jamaica. From Government leaders to those names in high places, Protoje starts a revolution, and wants you to be a part of it. Protoje never watched no face when rinsing this tune this year as he has painted the scene red at Festivals, Radio stops, and even at the recently held Prime Minister’s Youth Awards Ceremony. A tune that lifted the veil for many this year. Thank you for checking out our “2017 Faves“(see the rest here). We hope you enjoyed our selections, and we wish you an awesome 2018! Check out “BLXXD MONEY” below!

@MajorLazer Rounds Up Dancers For The @JBalvin @DuttyPaul Assisted “Buscando Huellas”!

The Major Lazer sound continues to reach the heart and soul of many! With their EPKnow No Better” still making its round, and before they embark on touching down in Jamaica later this month, they release the visual for the Sean Paul and J Balvin assisted “Buscando Huellas“! The video was directed by Juan Pablo Valencia, and features only Jillionaire, J Balvin, and some unique Dancers having a small dance off inside an abandoned building. With the song’s blend of Reggaeton, Dancehall, EDM, it calls for the Dance groups to perform coordinated moves to this one. Would’ve been cool if Sean Paul was present for this, but he was probably on tour with Chi Ching Ching. Time to bust a move, watch the video below!

If you were a reader of our “15 Artists To Watch Out For In Summer 2017” post, you would’ve come across an Artist by the name of Shie. Though she took a break from music, she’s back on the scene and has since released a couple songs. To close off 2017 however, she has gone through a name change, and will be now known as “Rhiya Luna“. Her first offering with the new name is titled, “Sweetest Love“! Produced by VanClive of Street Fame Records, she took a break from the Dancehall vibes as she lets us know that she needs love, and can offer the best kind in return.
