Christmas may be a lil early this year for some of you, and you’ll be rewarded whether you’ve been naughty or nice. For what has been a long time coming, well known Jamaican Producers SOS Dynamikz and BNJMN have announced their joint Album, “1221“! The duo have worked with each other over the years, but now they combine their sounds and bars for the new project. While the Album art has been revealed (designed by PlateFace), no further details will be out as yet except it will drop on 12/21 at 12:21 AM!
For those new to the Producers, check out our Article on 15 Producers you need to know that was released last Summer. Stay tuned for more updates, and check out their previous projects below!
You call them when you want to want a fire beat to go with your lyrics, they help you turn that song into the greatest thing someone has ever heard, they spend hours creating a masterpiece that sounds so good you’re not allowed to add your vocals to it. They are called Beatmakers, Riddim Gods, and more commonly, Producers! Artists can’t live without these people, and at times they don’t get a lot of respect. We at 13th Street Promotions recognize these creatives, and today you’ll get to know 15. Watch this space!
*These Producers are not ranked in any way.
1. Wavy Jones
Wavy Jones is a play on the name “Davy Jones”, but he also owns a locker filled with some dope beats! Whether flipping samples on “Locker 1 & 2” or dropping the bass on the Jeeby Lyricist, Blvk H3ro and Kione Zaire featured “100LBS”, Jones is a Producer to check for! Catch him on the next Hidden Fvces or Alpine Compound project!
Whether playing guitar as a part of “Di Vibe” or crafting beats, Kone (Koh Neh) should not be taken lightly. Having produced newcomer Yanah’s single, “The Cycle” and her “Believe In You” Freestyle, delivered the right Riddim with fellow Producer BoomDraw for Blvk H3ro & Leno Banton’s “Sky Dive”, expect to hear more of this creative this year!
3. Teflon Zincfence
He doesn’t call himself a “Riddim God” for nothing. You’ve enjoyed many of his productions that have been complimented with the vocals of Jamar McNaughton, and he has an arsenal ready to go toe to toe with the best of Producers. Having recently released the “Dub Policy EP”, he’s busy preparing his compilation project titled “Top Works Vol. 1” which will feature his ZincFence Records members Ulo, Jane Macgizmo, and Inezi. You can also hear his work on Chronixx’s “Chronology” album. Get familiar!
If you’re familiar with RD Studios, then you know about Director/Video Editor Baker Steez. Known to make your visuals look extra dope, he has been a part of many of your favourite Music Videos and Vlogs! Today, he reveals another side to him as he debuts his single and video for “Kush & Kologne“. With the single produced by BNJMN and the video shot by Krusha, Baker lets the audience in to his world when he’s not making the flashy visuals and hits you with the “sauce“! With cameos from Konshens, Prince Pine, Fat Skull, Jelly Bads, some lovely ladies and more, Steez shows us that this is only the beginning. What happens when the “Unruly Boss” meets Benji? Earlier this year, Popcaan released his “Tight P**** Wine” single but today Producer BNJMN flips it his way on “Poppy“. Here, Popcaan hits the purple stuff and changes tempo while BNJMN parks the Notnice Production aside as he adds his signature sound to the raunchy single. BNJMN has been pretty busy lately as his Production has graced various projects overseas, and we all know what Popcaan’s been up to as of late (lol). An Interesting take on the Dancehall track, and still an enjoyable listen. I’d recommend you play both versions one after the other. Keep an ear out for the “B*mbocl*** Benji” drops later this year but for now, check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Rapper/Producer King BNJMN drops his highly anticipated project, “Since 1993“. Known for some unique productions over the years (and a few verses here and there), this makes it his first EP as an Artist as his previous effort, 2014’s “Wanderlust“ featured his prowess in crafting remixes and original production. With 8 tracks on deck, this features co-production from SOS Dynamikz, Nova, KRS, Oshi, and verses from DutchBoy, Von Alexander, Oshi, SOS Dynamikz, Scolla, Carpe DM, and Maurice Moore. Artwork done by GrayT Art! Stop whatever you’re doing and check out this EP below, and share your thoughts in the comments section.
After capturing the attention of many with his productions, Rapper/Producer BNJMN wants more of it with his “Wanderlust EP“. Featuring remixes and exclusive productions, BNJMN wants to prove to the world that Jamaicans can produce with the best of them and the sound is not limited to just Dancehall music. With Ciara and SZA receiving the remix treatment and featuring contributions from KRS and Fortunes, it’s all about the “88 Sound“.
