2017 Faves: @JeebyLyricist – Mobaby (#3)

As 2017 comes to a close, we look back at a few songs that were favourites on the Blog for the year. While we can’t name EVERY one, we’ll give you 5 (in no particular order so hold off on the ego) to reminisce on, or get familiar with.

Taking the 3rd spot today is Jeeby Lyricist with “Mobaby“! Inspired by Recording Artist Jidenna’sBambi“, Jeeby teamed up with Producer The Kash (who remade the Instrumental) in May/June to speak on the ills that affect his hometown of Montego Bay, St. James. He even speaks on them through the role of a Scammer. Many come to Jamaica thinking it’s all white sandy beaches, continuous partying, and chill vibes. Just like the rest of the World however, there are issues like crime and violence, corruption, and poverty. A song with a message. If you missed our 4th pick, check it out here. Hear our 3rd pick below!

With the pairing of Auburn’s delivery and Roe’s production, this was a song for the lovers out there. Still hope a visual is made for this someday. If you missed our #5 entry, see here. Starting at #5, is “Meanwhile” by the duo of Recording Artists Leno Banton and Royal Blu. Produced by JLL, the track was released in March and features the Artists going bar for bar, and pound for pound like two Heavyweight contenders in the ring. With a mix of lyrics, flows and melodies from the two, it would’ve been nice to get a collaborative EP from them next year (hint hint). Artwork provided by Paige Zxmbie and Khari Kamau. Bless up, check out “Meanwhile” below.

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): @NinjaManMusic – Christmas Breeze (1988)

It’s Christmas Eve, and we bring to you our final entry in the Christmas Edition of “Oldies Sunday“! Today we call up “Di original Gold teet, front teet, gun pon teet, Don Gorgon“, Ninja Man! With Christmas in the air, we present to you his 1988 single, “Christmas Breeze“! Produced by L. Hellyter for the UK based Sling 1 Label, Ninja brings the Holiday vibes as the “Gold toothed Santa” to the session as he speaks on feeling the “Christmas breeze“, wanting to feel happy around this time of the year, encouraging unity, enjoying Christmas in any way you can, and his Christmas experiences in Kingston and London.

This post also pays a small tribute to the Don Gorgon as he was given a life sentence this past week. We will miss his commentary, his persona, and his presence in the Dancehall world. We wished that “Get Out of Jail Free” card worked.

THANK YOU NINJAMAN, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

@OfficialWayneJ Shines As Ambassador At United Nations Conference In Germany!

Recording Artist Wayne J may have gained a buzz thanks to being one of the brightest youngest Deejays in the past few years, but he also wants to make a positive change in the world. Recently, the Youth Ambassador of the Alligator Head Foundation represented Jamaica as a member of the COP23 Jamaica Delegation at the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) Conference in Bonn, Germany. Invited through a collaboration between the United Nations and Australia’s TBA21 Academy, Wayne J served as the youngest member at the Conference which gathered over 30,000 people from all over the world to share and develop new ideas in order to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

During his visit and presentation, Wayne J delivered great points and make it clear that in moving forward “Everyone should have an understanding in how to approach the changes in our Planet”. The Ambassador added the importance of Conservation, and encouraged all in attendance to create more strategies in preserving and protecting the Earth. He is set to visit the Fiji Islands and other parts of the World as a part of his duties as Ambassador in the coming weeks.

While Wayne J has released a few singles this year and made a few appearances locally, he is set to continue making his Artist side be heard in 2018 with the singles “TOM” and “Better Days”. He is also working on an EP to drop sometime later next year.
