2017 Faves: @JeebyLyricist – Mobaby (#3)

As 2017 comes to a close, we look back at a few songs that were favourites on the Blog for the year. While we can’t name EVERY one, we’ll give you 5 (in no particular order so hold off on the ego) to reminisce on, or get familiar with.

Taking the 3rd spot today is Jeeby Lyricist with “Mobaby“! Inspired by Recording Artist Jidenna’s “Bambi“, Jeeby teamed up with Producer The Kash (who remade the Instrumental) in May/June to speak on the ills that affect his hometown of Montego Bay, St. James. He even speaks on them through the role of a Scammer. Many come to Jamaica thinking it’s all white sandy beaches, continuous partying, and chill vibes. Just like the rest of the World however, there are issues like crime and violence, corruption, and poverty. A song with a message. If you missed our 4th pick, check it out here. 2017 Faves: @MaticulusAuburn – All For You (#4)

As 2017 comes to a close, we look back at a few songs that were favourites on the Blog for the year. While we can’t name EVERY one, we’ll give you 5 (in no particular order so hold off on the ego) to reminisce on, or get familiar with.

Stepping in at #4, is Recording Artist Maticulus Auburn with “All For You“! Produced by Roe Summerz and released in April, Maticulus dedicates his love to his lady as she has had his back, made him better, and has been there for him in good and bad times. With the pairing of Auburn’s delivery and Roe’s production, this was a song for the lovers out there. Still hope a visual is made for this someday. If you missed our #5 entry, see here. Armed with Guitars and Jrdn Mrrs and Khari Kamau behind the lens, they give viewers an acoustic performance as they speak on losing a love to the world. Want a copy of the single? Shie Changes Name To Rhiya Luna, Releases New Single, “Sweetest Love”!

If you were a reader of our “15 Artists To Watch Out For In Summer 2017” post, you would’ve come across an Artist by the name of Shie. Though she took a break from music, she’s back on the scene and has since released a couple songs. To close off 2017 however, she has gone through a name change, and will be now known as “Rhiya Luna“. Her first offering with the new name is titled, “Sweetest Love“! Produced by VanClive of Street Fame Records, she took a break from the Dancehall vibes as she lets us know that she needs love, and can offer the best kind in return. It is a different sound coming from her, and there’s no telling what’s next from her and she likes to be unpredictable. Something for the lovers out there, and an addition to the “Love” playlists for this holiday season, and next year. How deep is your love for me? Check out the track below!

Simma simma, who got the keys to the…wrong song, but there’s a Bimma involved in today’s new entry! REM Emperor Leno Banton has been having a great year thanks to his appearances at various events, and putting out dope music. Teaming up with the young Lion, Producer/Recording Artist iotosh (who has been making moves this year as well), they release “Simma“! Produced by krs., the Artists look back at their love interests as they reflect on having great moments, to losing that love to other men and materialistic ambitions. Listeners will relate to this as many relationships tend to end this way. From fluffing that pillow for that special person, to seeing them change into a whole different individual who lowered their standards. While Leno gave his signature groove on this, iotosh went in! Providing the Artwork is the lovely Monique Kidd a.k.a. Kidding Art! Some New Wave music fi yuh ears! Have a listen below.

Hello December! It’s that favourite time for many, the Christmas Season! While many may have opinions on the season, or don’t wish to celebrate it, you can’t go wrong with remembering the real reason for the season, and the great music that pops up! On the first Oldies Sunday of December, we kick off a Christmas Edition, and the first selection comes from the legendary Barrington Levy! Remixing the Jimmy Boyd 1952 classic, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus“, Barrington drops “I Saw Mommy Kissing A Dreadlocks“! Released by Mic Productions and features Recording Artist/Producer Trinity, this song was featured on the 1981 Christmas compilation project titled, “Yard Style Christmas”! In the song Barrington sings about catching his Mother kissing a dreadlocked Santa Claus who stopped at his house because of a storm and brought greetings and gifts of Sensimilla (Marijuana) from Jah.
