Today’s new music comes from Reggae artist Lutan Fyah. Titled “We Know” and produced by Hanif Chito of Kimichi Records, he sings about uplifting the youths as he sees many being oppressed and he promises that once they’re doing good works they’ll never be left behind for they shall grow and overcome it all. Mixtape Movements: @CTRLIndustries x DJ Journee – Rolling Mix (Hosted By @FiveSteez)


Today’s mixtape comes from U.S. based DJ Journee. Titled “Rolling Mix” and hosted by Jamaican Rapper Five Steez, this a collaboration with Jui-Jitsu/MMA apparel company CTRL Industries and the DJ. The mix features some really good remixes from the DJ with tracks by Five Steez, Busy Signal, Kabaka Pyramid, Nas, Pete Rock and many more. OLDIES SUNDAY: Chaka Demus And Pliers – Murder She Wrote (1992)


In recognition of French Montana and Nicki Minaj’s hit, “Freaks“, today I feature one of the songs that was sampled in it. Titled “Murder She Wrote“, this was a very popular hit of legendary duo Chaka Demus and Pliers. Released in 1992 and produced by Sly and Robbie on the “Bam Bam” remake riddim, this song was described as a song for the ladies with an “Angel face but a Devil’s heart“. This song spoke about a girl named Maxine who was a user, very promiscuous, and was also a murderer. According to the artists, this was written off an experience but with a few details omitted.

Good interview, always great to see top artists giving the public giving insights on the mechanics of their careers. It’s never easy but it can be fruitful once done properly. Today’s episode of Onstage featured an Interview with Reggae artist I-Octane. Having a seat with Winford Williams, Octane spoke about the origin of his current hit, “Gal A Gimme Bun“, his resigning with Digicel Jamaica as Reggae Ambassador, working with companies to ensure his brand is a positive one, and leaving a great mark in the music industry for years to come.
