First they started out as the youth of the Dancehall/Reggae culture, now they’re parents with growing kids. It isn’t unusual for the child of an Entertainer to follow in their parent’s footsteps one way or the other as at times they bring a modern take on their parent’s creations, or create their own lane. Some of the most famous off springs include Stephen, Ziggy, and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley (Sons of Bob Marley), Chino and Di Genius (Sons of Freddie McGregor), Junior Tucker (Son of Jimmy Tucker), Morgan Heritage (Children of Denroy Morgan), Tarrus Riley (Son of Jimmy Riley), Queen Ifrica (Daughter of Derrick Morgan), Protoje (Son of Lorna Bennett), Chronixx (Son of Chronicle) and many more. In part 5 of a few part series, I feature more of the new set of kids on the scene whose parents have covered much ground in their respective careers.

Today I present to you a classic from the “Lyrical Gangsta” iNi Kamoze a.k.a the originator of the “Woiyoi“, with a modern twist from a mad Scientist named Yared Lee a.k.a Boomdraw. Remixing iNi’s 1995 “Listen Me Tic“, Boomdraw experimented with new samples and scratches over a dark Production. If you’re a fan of the original then you’ll love this and If iNi was looking to reissue his “Lyrical Gangsta” album, he should consider throwing this remix in there along with the Soso Def remix with Da Brat. Produced by SOSA, Nomad addresses racial issues, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and his own ethnicity. NEW MUSIC: @RoyceDa59 x @BlackThought x @AgentSasco – Rap On Steroids

Last night, Detroit Rapper Royce Da 5’9″ premiered his “Trust The Shooter EP” with fans rejoicing. With a 12 track set, many were prepared for deadly bars. What we didn’t expect was “Rap On Steroids“, a track that features Philly’s own Black Thought…and Jamaica’s own Agent Sasco! Produced by Jahlil Beats, Royce delivers hard punches to the gut, Black Thought sends jabs to the ribs and Sasco delivers the uppercuts with his Dancehall delivery. A surprise to many as Sasco has been making moves on the low over the years, although I wish he dropped 16 or even 32 bars. Maybe Royce has a few tricks up his sleeve on his upcoming “Layers” album.
