While she stands at 5 ft something, she makes a gigantic scene when she lets her notes fly! Lila Ike is an Artist you should be familiar with. While she has been showcasing her talents for a while, the spotlight got a bit bigger when it was announced that she’ll be joining the good folks at Reggae Artist Protoje’s In.digg.nation Collective. You’ve heard her on tracks with Protoje, Koro Fyah, and Royal Blu, but 13th Street Promotions caught up with her recently for a quick “Innerview”! Straight outta Manchester, Jamaica, get to know Lila Ike!

13thStreetPromo: Hey Lila! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to rock with us. Many have heard you on tracks like Protoje’s “Flight Plans“, and on your debut single, “Biggest Fan“, but who is the Artist named Lila Ike?

Lila Ike: Thanks for having me. To keep it simple and sweet, Lila Iké is a chill person who just enjoys creating and vibing.

13thSP: When did you discover that you could sing, and when did you decide that you want to pursue a music career?

LI: I discovered I could really sing during my years in Primary School (Elementary School). Realizing how good I was, I decided I wanted to pursue it as a career during my time in University.

It’s Sunday, and we have another episode of “Kngly Live!” brought to you by Kris Karz, and Kngly Studios! Today marks the series’ season finale with the promise of even more dope Artists and music to come. To close off the season, we have the lovely Kaylan Arnold covering the late Amy Winehouse classic, “You Sent Me Flying“. Kaylan is armed with her lovely voice, and a Guitar as she does the cover justice and we are all being taken back and remembering a great talent that was gone too soon. Introducing to the Blog is a NY based Artist by the name of Alex Mali. She has been around for a while releasing some dope tunes, and she proudly reps her West Indian background (Jamaica & Trinidad). For those familiar with the Joey BadA$$ & PRO ERA, you may have heard her on a track or two. With some fire on the way, she gives listeners a taste with a Freestyle titled “Livin“. Produced by KDVG, she describes her tune as an “expression of Parental disapproval” as she points out a few clashes with her Mother. We love our Moms, but there are times where we’re just not gonna see eye to eye with ordeals and expectations. If you know Caribbean Mothers, you know there weren’t just regular arguments. Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” Sampled On New @TamarBraxtonHer Album!

What a Bam Bam! With one of the most sampled Dancehall singles to date, Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” continues to make more noise all over the world! Adding to the list of Artists who have blessed the sample is US Recording Artist, Tamar Braxton! With her new Album, “Blue Bird Of Happiness“, she recently announced that it will be her final Album as she’ll be focusing on her family. “Bam Bam” received the sample treatment on the track, “Run Run” which was produced by Troy Taylor and Bridgetown, and appears as track 3 on the Album. “Bam Bam” was released in 1982, produced by Winston Riley, and has been sampled/featured on tracks by the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Guerilla Black, Lauryn Hill, Kat DeLuna. The single was even featured in a Reebok Commercial.

Dancehall/Reggae Producer Don Corleonie is also featured on Tamar’s Album. He is credited as a Writer on the final track, “Empty Boxes“. Check out “Run Run” below, “Blue Bird Of Happiness” is available here.

Produced by Winta James, the duo kick down the doors of injustice, inequality, oppression, and poverty, and encourage listeners to get in formation to set the oppressed free, and get people that mean the world well in power! With so much going on in the world, we all want better for ourselves, our Children, and their Children…but the good fight has to happen in order to see positive changes. Featured on the cover of the single is one of the photos taken during the Grenadian Revolution in March of 1979 which overthrew the government of Eric Gairy, the 1st Prime Minister of the Island by Maurice Bishop (Politician and leader of the New Jewel Movement (NJM)). While it has been “Too Late” for some this past Summer, Recording Artist Jane Macgizmo is right on time with the way her career is going. Recently she, along with Zinc Fence Records Producer Teflon, were called up to lend their musical hands in the Soundtrack to the upcoming Amazon Prime TV series, “SYN“. Jane’s latest single, “Too Late” will be featured, along with her contribution to the Series’ Theme Song. Original Production by Teflon will also make an appearance throughout the season. She took to Social Media site Instagram to deliver the great news to much excitement, and it goes to show that our music continues to make an impact Worldwide.

“SYN” is a psychological Thriller written and produced by Award winning Jamaican Director/Producer/Writer Toni Morgan Haye (related to the this Blog’s Founder? Maybe lol) that focuses on the main character named Jess (played by Emily Sweet). Jess has amnesia and remembers nothing about who she is or where she came from. The series sees Jess on a journey to reclaim her lost memories, and how her very existence could change the course of reality. The series premieres on October 6 on Amazon Prime TV.
