The Iconic @TootsMaytals Double Up On Performances On @FallonTonight!

Posted on by swadedavillain

Jamaican music is still winning, don’t forget that. Recently, the legendary Toots & The Maytals blessed The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s set, and gave them a double dose of that good music. Performing the classic “Funky Kingston“, they also premiered a new single titled “Marley“. Fans will love this, and others will learn about one of the Jamaican staples. Funny enough, yesterday we featured a single from Toots Hibbert’s Grandson, Blizzi that you can check out here. Rygin King

The “1One King” of Mobay started making a lot of noise late last year, and is no surprise to the lineup this year. With a buzz that quickly spread like wildfire thanks to tracks like “Tuff“, “Things Go Change“, “Feel Like This (Big Toe)“, and “Learn“, he quickly rose up the ranks with some of the best from the west. Don’t believe me? Watch his debut appearance at Reggae Sumfest 2018 below.

.@Kris_Karz’s Production Featured In @DylanGolden305’s New Short Film!

It’s dope when you can find the perfect Producer for your tracks. Finding one to score your Film, is something special. Recently Rapper/Chef Dylan Golden released his Short Film, “Half Dead“, which takes you through the journey of a young man of color who is exasperated with the onslaughts of current social injustices we are facing in America and around the world. Filmed in Brooklyn, scoring for this Film was done Dylan (who also directed it), and Jamaican Producer Kris Karz! While the two are no strangers to collaborating with each other, both have combined their powers to spread the messages injected throughout this piece. The Film was released in conjunction with the Rapper’s new album, “The Revolution Of The Heart“.

Today marks the 45th Birthday of the one they call “Gargamel“, Mark “Buju Banton” Myrie! While the word is he’ll be a free man by the end of the year, we still celebrate him as if he’s already here. His music has touched the lives of many over the years, and many have shown respect in the form of covers, tribute songs, and by sampling him. Today, we feature a few songs that have sampled him. #FREEBUJU! Check them out below, and show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

Yuh eva lose a real friend yet?

Recording Artist Voiide has been putting out music that paint a picture to some his experiences in life. Today’s entry however, will hit some folks hard. Borrowing Rapper Rich The Kid’s “Plug Walk” Instrumental, he bares it all on “Share Di Pain“. On the track, he shares the emotions felt when it came to losing a real friend. With no holds barred on the track, this is one of the realest tracks out from the Artist. It may even be one of the realest ones of the year. Voiide also paints a picture as he shot, edited, and directed the video for the track. This is a “Real AF” tune. Pray for Voiide, and all the friends that we’ve all lost. .@Tessellated Is Under A Spell On “Hallucinate”!

Watch this space…you’re getting sleepy…I command you to dance to some new music!

While he found great success with the Valleyz and Amindi K. Fro$t assisted “Pine & Ginger“, Tessellated wants more. Today, he makes some noise with “Hallucinate“! Produced by Rvssian and krs., Tessellated speaks on how a certain “Miss” is taking over his whole being with no escape from it. While he compliments the beautiful production, the trippy visual which was handled by Mountain Man Michael will take you places. Whoever you interpret “her” to be, she’s doing a great job. Let the music lift you up today…float on! Check out “Hallucinate” below, and show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
