.@MasickaMusic Solidifies Status With Sophomore Album, “Generation Of Kings”

For over a decade, Dancehall Artist Masicka has grown from an upcoming Artist, to a young legend in Jamaican music. 2021 saw his career elevate to a new level with the release of his debut album, “438“. The critically-acclaimed project quickly built up anticipation for a follow up, and the Deejay promised to fulfill the request in due time. He announced his signing to the iconic Def Jam Records this past Spring, and went straight to work. Today, the finished work has arrived in the form of the new album, “Generation Of Kings“.

Featuring 17 tracks, Masicka looks to deliver another classic with the release of “Generation Of Kings”. Making his major label debut with Def Jam Records, the “Genahsyde Boss” is ready for the takeover. The Deejay gives us his usual great music for the ladies, the Gangstas, and the yutes here over solid production, but shows the listener that he has matured a lot in his career. Production include the likes of Dunw3ll, Mozeeko, Boi1da, and Fortune. Like his previous album, he brought along a few friends including Spice, Dexta Daps, Lila Ike, Chronic Law, Popcaan, Fave, and Fridayy. The conversation has already started about “G.O.K.” possibly being better than “438”, and while we won’t contribute to that, we encourage you to celebrate another milestone from an Artist dedicated to his craft. 1Syde till the land slide.

We Highlight Some Of The Dancehall Artists Who Have Defined The 2010s!

December 31, 2019 marks the last day of the 2010s, and January 1, 2020 will mark the first day of a new decade. It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times, but today we look back at some of Dancehall Artists who have made an impact on the scene. With so many hits and moments, we know lists and faves will vary. Before we start, we want to thank everyone who has given our Blog and Social Media a chance since 2012. We’ve featured so many and have assisted in the careers of plenty, we look forward to doing even more in 2020, and beyond. Let’s get started with our lengthy list.

(Editor’s Note: Everyone’s list is different, so if you have a problem with this one…make your own!)

Vybz Kartel

I mean, what’s a list without the “World Boss“? A man who continued to add fuel to the fire of his musical career, long after making his debut in the early 2000s. With his entrepreneurial side blooming with a Shoe line, Liquor line, Nightclub, Merch, to even Condoms, Vybz was everywhere. He even had a Reality TV series, and kept up with quite a bit of controversy too. Despite him being thrown behind bars in 2011 and facing 35 years soon after, it didn’t stop him from recording music, and releasing singles and albums up to this day. Remember his “Freaky Girl” saga? We know you all have a few Kartel tracks in rotation.

Spice

Spice is also an Artist you can’t deny when it comes to this list as well. Spice held it down for the ladies, and showed the men that she can handle her own. With so many bookings, i’m surprised there isn’t a row or an Airline named after her yet. Spice kept the hits coming, and flexed her entrepreneurial muscle as well with her “Spicey Couture” store which started growing since opening in 2009. With the help of Social Media, Spice’s brand got bigger, and took a major turn in 2018 when she was made a cast member on the popular VH1 Reality TV series, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”. Spice welcomed her share of controversy as well which included relationship issues, and the topic of Colorism. With her career starting in the early 2000s, she kept the fire going like her “World Boss” colleague, and got crowned Queen in the process.

.@SpiceOfficial Channels Her Inner Señorita On “Fiesta”!

If you were under a rock for the past couple weeks, Dancehall Artist Spice dived into the sea of controversy and had the people talking. With a skin bleaching stunt to promote her black positive single, the Deejay and now Reality Show Star topped it off with the release of her latest Mixtape titled, “Captured“. Since the releases, Spice has been a never ending topic to discuss. While all that is well and good, what probably slid under the radar for many, is she gave us another side of her musical prowess to enjoy, singing in Spanish! On the track titled “Fiesta“, Spice gets into some Latin production and delivered! While the mixtape featured some of her usual arsenal, this unique entry is one that should garner numerous repeats. A rather caliente track indeed, feel free to translate the lyrics. Want to get into more Spice? We Pay Tribute To @SpiceOfficial In Our “Meet Grace ‘Spice’ Hamilton” Playlist!

Before she makes her debut as a cast member of the new season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta“, we want to introduce those who aren’t familiar to the music of Grace “Spice” Hamilton. Making the move to Spotify again, we compiled a 2+ hour playlist of some of her top hits over the years. While she made a couple cameo appearances before, Spice officially revealed that she was a cast member a couple weeks ago, and fans are eager to see what she’ll be up to. We paid tribute to her last year when she made her cameo appearances, but today we add music for those who need a crash course. Have a listen below, and do share with someone who isn’t familiar.
