If you’re a listener of West Coast Hip Hop, you were aware of the release of “Victory Lap” this week. The highly anticipated Album by LA Rapper/Entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle saw the light after 7 years of waiting. Featuring 16 tracks, fans can tune in and hear the lyrics from one of West Coast Hip Hop’s most respected figures. While the Album has features, one familiar voice may have caught many off guard, and it was the voice of Dancehall Artist Konshens! Appearing on track 9, “Succa Proof“, Konz assisted Nipsey with some badman lyrics and showed listeners the 876/213 link up! The track was produced by DJ Khalil, Mike & Keys, and Rance, the track has already been shown to be a favourite so far on Social Media. Aside from features, Konshens has been working on new music, including dropping more songs with a message. “Victory Lap” is now available on all Digital Music Streaming services. Featuring over an hour of those Dancehall tunes that will cause stripped clothes, noise complaints, thumps and bumps all over the house, rocking vehicles in parked positions, and steamy spaces. In case you weren’t aware, the Trap Music trio Migos released their highly anticipated “Culture 2” Album a few hours ago. Featuring 24 tracks, fans are in for a treat as Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset are here to give you that fix. While the Album features the singles “Motorsport“, “Supastars“, and “Stir Fry“, a familiar sounding set of vocals can be heard in track 13, “Crown The Kings“. If you guessed right, the legendary Bob Marley & The Wailers has been featured on the Album in the form of a sample. Borrowing from the 1973 track, “Get Up, Stand Up“, the chorus can be heard throughout the production which was handled by Quavo and DJ Durel. “Get Up, Stand Up” was written by Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and featured on The Wailers’ 1973 Album, “Burnin’“. Various versions of the song have been recorded by Marley, Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. It has also been covered and remixed by the likes of Tracy Chapman, Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Shaggy, The Rolling Stones, and has even been parodied on an episode of “Futurama“. “Culture 2” is available now on all streaming services.

Overseas based Recording Artist Voiide has been on the scene for quite some time giving listeners a dose of his Dancehall and Hip Hop influenced sound. Recently he made some noise with his latest single, “JEFE“, and today he adds the official Music Video to the roll out. Directed by ShotByGod, Voiide speaks on his way of life in terms of how he handles friendships, business, confrontations, and the ladies, and he cannot be easily swayed to change as it’s in his genes. The track was also produced by Smitty Links. With his DMS Way (Different Mind State) movement, he seeks to make his presence felt even more in 2018 as he plans to release more music covering various themes. “JEFE” the single is now available on all Digital Music Retailers including Amazon Music, Spotify, and Apple Music. Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” Sampled On New @TamarBraxtonHer Album!

What a Bam Bam! With one of the most sampled Dancehall singles to date, Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam” continues to make more noise all over the world! Adding to the list of Artists who have blessed the sample is US Recording Artist, Tamar Braxton! With her new Album, “Blue Bird Of Happiness“, she recently announced that it will be her final Album as she’ll be focusing on her family. “Bam Bam” received the sample treatment on the track, “Run Run” which was produced by Troy Taylor and Bridgetown, and appears as track 3 on the Album. “Bam Bam” was released in 1982, produced by Winston Riley, and has been sampled/featured on tracks by the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Guerilla Black, Lauryn Hill, Kat DeLuna. The single was even featured in a Reebok Commercial.

Dancehall/Reggae Producer Don Corleonie is also featured on Tamar’s Album. He is credited as a Writer on the final track, “Empty Boxes“. Check out “Run Run” below, “Blue Bird Of Happiness” is available here.
