Jamaica, Land We Love. Many outsiders know of the Resorts, the Beaches, living the “Island Life“, but there’s another side to our beautiful Island that is at times exposed. Following the death of a close friend, Recording Artist and Montego Bay, St. James resident Jeeby Lyricist released the visuals for “Mobaby“. Featuring Miss Jamaica Universe 2016 Isabel Dalley, and various clips highlighting Montego Bay in recent times, the visual sheds a light on both the beautiful and ugly sides of this location as it’s a haven for Tourists and great Businesses, but a place where Crime has been a huge thorn in its side. Delivered over a beat remake of Jidenna’s “Bambi” from The Kash, this has been a favourite of ours for the month and the song can be seen on the same level as Protoje’s “BLXXD MONEY”. Would be dope to get more verses from Artists representing other locations (Artists where are you?). R.I.P. Jayson Barnes and all the fallen Mobabies. Watch the video below.
They call him “Hov“, they say he’s not a Businessman, he’s a Business…man, but we know him as Jay-Z! Recently he released his 13th studio album titled, “4:44 (Buy Here)“, and many were blown away by the direction he took with the content. One of the standouts however is “BAM (Get It Here)“, his collaboration with the “Gongzilla“, Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, combined with the sampling one of the most sampled Dancehall singles of all time, “Bam Bam (Get It Here)” by the iconic Sister Nancy. Today, they unleashed the visuals for that track. Directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat and shot during Jay’s recent visit to Jamaica, we get a glimpse of Kingston including the iconic Trench Town, the infamous Tuff Gong Studio, and guest cameos included Hip Hop Producer Young Guru, Recording Artist Kabaka Pyramid, Junior Reid, Former Miss World (and Damian’s Mama) Cindy Breakspeare, and the elements of what makes our music culture so amazing! No more talking, watch the video below!
With a follow up to his 2016 “Savage” on the way, Florida based Rapper Daley started making some noise earlier this year with a couple freestyles, and unveiling Artwork. He now adds a Music Video to the list. Joining forces with Rapper/Poet Trill Soulutionary, they get away from it all on “For The Dreamers“. Directed by Kiel Hoilett a.k.a. Kilo, the duo meditate, reason with each other, and spit thoughts throughout the visual. Put yourself in their place and think how the world can be such a crazy place that you need to head to the hills, streams and valleys to clear your head and dream of better days. Organize your mind by watching the video below! Keep dreaming…
Sometimes in life, you have to have an extra hustle. For Trini Recording Artists Sarkastik Ambassador and Nick Soul (both from Overdose Music Group), they hustle together as Pool Cleaners in the video for their single, “Coloured Girls (Get It Here)“! Directed by Dominic Koo and Stephen Hadeed Jr. for Hundred Eye Films, the duo try to mix business with pleasure as their client is quite a looker (played by ArtGod Lii). Dropping lyrics in hopes of getting the young lady’s attention, you’ll have to watch to see if one will be lucky enough to win her time. If your pool needs a proper cleaning today, give them a call, and don’t let them see your girl! Check out the video below.
You call them when you want to want a fire beat to go with your lyrics, they help you turn that song into the greatest thing someone has ever heard, they spend hours creating a masterpiece that sounds so good you’re not allowed to add your vocals to it. They are called Beatmakers, Riddim Gods, and more commonly, Producers! Artists can’t live without these people, and at times they don’t get a lot of respect. We at 13th Street Promotions recognize these creatives, and today you’ll get to know 15. Watch this space!
Wavy Jones is a play on the name “Davy Jones”, but he also owns a locker filled with some dope beats! Whether flipping samples on “Locker 1 & 2” or dropping the bass on the Jeeby Lyricist, Blvk H3ro and Kione Zaire featured “100LBS”, Jones is a Producer to check for! Catch him on the next Hidden Fvces or Alpine Compound project!
Whether playing guitar as a part of “Di Vibe” or crafting beats, Kone (Koh Neh) should not be taken lightly. Having produced newcomer Yanah’s single, “The Cycle” and her “Believe In You” Freestyle, delivered the right Riddim with fellow Producer BoomDraw for Blvk H3ro & Leno Banton’s “Sky Dive”, expect to hear more of this creative this year!
He doesn’t call himself a “Riddim God” for nothing. You’ve enjoyed many of his productions that have been complimented with the vocals of Jamar McNaughton, and he has an arsenal ready to go toe to toe with the best of Producers. Having recently released the “Dub Policy EP”, he’s busy preparing his compilation project titled “Top Works Vol. 1” which will feature his ZincFence Records members Ulo, Jane Macgizmo, and Inezi. You can also hear his work on Chronixx’s “Chronology” album. Get familiar!

With a few years in the game, Florida based Recording Artist Khxos (formerly Khaos) has been releasing Dancehall tunes and gaining attention thanks to Social Media. He received a buzz that started to bubble in Summer 2015 thanks to the release of “One Touch”. Summer 2016 kept the ball rolling with his debut EP “Deception”, but collaborations with Andrew Trabass, Chargii, and Lincoln 3Dot helped to keep it blazing for the rest of the year. Early 2017 however saw his name change, and the release of “So Loud” and “BOMM” propelled him as one to watch this Summer as he prepares to release his debut Album, “Dopamine”.
They don’t call him “El Fuego” for nothing, his music keeps you on your toes, and his lyrics hit like the hot oil from frying Plantains. This Artist has been quietly making his way onto the scene and has made appearances from “New Wave” to “Live From Kingston: Class 2016”, to “Imprint” to Protoje’s “For The Culture” event. His collaborations with the likes of Lila Ike, Runkus, and Leno Banton have received numerous hits on Soundcloud, and he hits the road (or Air) with Runkus as a part of the “Class Is In” European Tour and a stop at the German Summerjam this Summer!
This Songstress came as a surprise this year with the release of her debut single, “So Shy”. Known as “The First Lady Of REM”, she followed up with a freestyle (Believe In You), and a follow up single titled “The Cycle”. She has also made appearances on “Smile Jamaica”, “New Wave”, “Speak”, and “7 am In Kingston”. Yanah is currently working follow up singles, and makes an appearance near you this Summer!
