While she stands at 5 ft something, she makes a gigantic scene when she lets her notes fly! Lila Ike is an Artist you should be familiar with. While she has been showcasing her talents for a while, the spotlight got a bit bigger when it was announced that she’ll be joining the good folks at Reggae Artist Protoje’s In.digg.nation Collective. You’ve heard her on tracks with Protoje, Koro Fyah, and Royal Blu, but 13th Street Promotions caught up with her recently for a quick “Innerview”! Straight outta Manchester, Jamaica, get to know Lila Ike!

13thStreetPromo: Hey Lila! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to rock with us. Many have heard you on tracks like Protoje’s “Flight Plans“, and on your debut single, “Biggest Fan“, but who is the Artist named Lila Ike?

Lila Ike: Thanks for having me. To keep it simple and sweet, Lila Iké is a chill person who just enjoys creating and vibing.

13thSP: When did you discover that you could sing, and when did you decide that you want to pursue a music career?

LI: I discovered I could really sing during my years in Primary School (Elementary School). Realizing how good I was, I decided I wanted to pursue it as a career during my time in University.

The names belong to a young Jamaican Producer by the name of Tyrece McNaughton, and he has been cooking up some fire that will surely bring out the lyrics out of some Artists. Today, he presents his Riddim Project titled, “Universal Joints Vol. 1“. Inspired by Hip Hop Producers like Pete Rock, J. Dilla, 9th Wonder, and Jamaican Producers like Teflon Zincfence, BNJMN, and SOS Dynamikz, Tyrece brings listeners into his sonic and sample filled world through 15 tracks. They are called Beatmakers, Riddim Gods, and more commonly, Producers! Artists can’t live without these people, and at times they don’t get a lot of respect. We at 13th Street Promotions recognize these creatives, and today you’ll get to know 15. Watch this space!

1. Wavy Jones

Wavy Jones is a play on the name “Davy Jones”, but he also owns a locker filled with some dope beats! Whether flipping samples on “Locker 1 & 2” or dropping the bass on the Jeeby Lyricist, Blvk H3ro and Kione Zaire featured “100LBS”, Jones is a Producer to check for! Catch him on the next Hidden Fvces or Alpine Compound project!

2. Kone

Whether playing guitar as a part of “Di Vibe” or crafting beats, Kone (Koh Neh) should not be taken lightly. Having produced newcomer Yanah’s single, “The Cycle” and her “Believe In You” Freestyle, delivered the right Riddim with fellow Producer BoomDraw for Blvk H3ro & Leno Banton’s “Sky Dive”, expect to hear more of this creative this year!

3. Teflon Zincfence

He doesn’t call himself a “Riddim God” for nothing. You’ve enjoyed many of his productions that have been complimented with the vocals of Jamar McNaughton, and he has an arsenal ready to go toe to toe with the best of Producers. Having recently released the “Dub Policy EP”, he’s busy preparing his compilation project titled “Top Works Vol. 1” which will feature his ZincFence Records members Ulo, Jane Macgizmo, and Inezi.
